GREEN BAY — Mike McCarthy isn't ruling Aaron Rodgers out of Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit, but the Green Bay Packers coach said Monday that the odds of his quarterback playing are "slim to none."

To make things more complicated, McCarthy isn't sure whether he'll go with Matt Flynn, who rallied the team from a 16-point deficit to a 26-26 tie with the Minnesota Vikings, or Scott Tolzien, who started the past two games but was benched with 8 minutes 22 seconds left in the third quarter with the offense in search of a spark.

Rodgers, who suffered a broken left collarbone Nov. 4 against Chicago, has not played since. Including their 27-20 loss to the Bears, in which veteran Seneca Wallace took over for the injured Rodgers, the Packers are 0-3-1 without their star.

"(I) had a meeting with Aaron. He would like to go (against the Lions)," McCarthy said Monday afternoon. "Frankly, based on the information where we are as far as the conversation with Aaron, the conversation with the medical staff, I would say he's slim to none, to give you what I'm thinking. That's where we are."

McCarthy said Rodgers has undergone testing but refused to elaborate.

After Rodgers went down against the Bears, McCarthy didn't immediately rule Rodgers out for the following week's game against Philadelphia, saying, "Let's not kid ourselves, if he walked in your office and asked for the ball on Saturday, what would you do?"

When reminded of that quote Monday, McCarthy replied, "Well, it's more than that. Let's be honest, he's got to practice. There's some physical rehab hurdles to get through that he hasn't reached yet. Like I said, it would be a huge stretch for him to play in this game."

McCarthy said Rodgers would have to practice on Wednesday, before the team departs for Detroit, to have any chance of playing Thursday at Ford Field.

He's Lying!!!!!!

Just as he and the Packer organization has been about all the other injuries!!!!

Aaron Rodgers will start Thursday and The Lions will file a protest, after the loss, because The Packers held back information.

After the game a black limousine with Nevada license plates will be seen pulling into Mike's driveway in Green Bay.

The Packers announce the next day Mike has retired and they will go with Campen as head coach for the rest of the year.

I wouldn't start Rodgers against the Lions, after all they are cheap shot artists.

Damn - depressing news.

I for one wouldn't give a damn if he was lying. The media and public have no damn right to know, and the Lions sure have no right.

I wouldn't rule out beating Detroit with Flynn or Tolzien, but it's a long shot.

Teams are required to file injury reports.

Personally, I did not believe they would allow Aaron to play this soon. I'm glad Matt has shown what he can do, and that he can get it done. I'm far, far more worried about the defense.

If Shields doesn't play, Megatron could go off.

I'm kind of so-and-so. On the one hand side another 1,5 weeks to heal will really help Rodgers, but on the other hand the Lions game is a do-or-die game for me. A W and the door is wide open, a L and the season is probably done. If the Packers can pull out a Thanksgiving-W with Matt Flynn under center, I'm more than fine, I have serious doubts on that, though.

No mention of how Flynn played his last game against the Lions?

The Lions just lost to the Buccaneers. This is a game that the Packers can win with Flynn at the helm. I was all for starting Tolzien last week but that's what happens when one player plays better than another, they get the shot.
I fully respect your right to have your opinion but that doesn't mean I agree with it or respect you for having it.

Actually, the Lions and Bears losses along with the promise of their future suckiness mean we could lose this Lions game and still win the division. The tie game makes a standings tiebreaker very unlikely, but I really think 9-6-1 will be good enough to take this division.

Just ran scenario where Packers win Thursday, then for rest of season the home team wins out for everyone involved.

That happens, Packers would finish 8-7-1 and will win The North.

Way to much football left to be played to throw in the towel yet.
