GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers promoted linebacker Victor Aiyewa to the active roster from the practice squad shortly before they boarded the plane Wednesday for their Thanksgiving game at the Detroit Lions.

Aiyewa, a first-year player from the University of Washington, was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 15.

He replaced rookie running back Johnathan Franklin, who sustained a concussion while returning a kickoff in Sunday's game against Minnesota and was placed on injured reserve.

Linebacker help! I'm all for it. Sorry to hear Franklin is out. I wanted so much more for him this season. The ball security issues killed him. Maybe he can make up for it next year.

Anyone know of the Aiyewa kid? Hope he does well.

Good kid, intelligent, playmaker, 2 seasons at S before switching to LB, taught by DC Nick Holt, same coach Holt who taught Clay Matthews the position at USC.

#1 in the PAC 10 in Tackles for Loss per game at 1.5, and #11 in the nation.

Should be interesting.

Why make your fellow posters go out of their way to beat this dead horse, in a topic that doesn't even mention your AJ Hawk?

Aiyewa is 6-1 234 apparently. Hope the kid does well.

Franklin has ben disappointing. But Lacy greatly compensates for his failure.

Victor Aiyewa is a great prospect for us. Would love to see him in some game action. He is fast, agile, and a very sound tackler.

Aiyewa is what he is, a UDFA signed to the practice squad, and now because of injuries he is on the 53 man roster.

Would be amazing if, when he gets a chance to play, he would contribute.

At most he will be playing Special teams, hopefully he will contribute.

The problem will be if he is forced into playing defense and doesn't perform like a 4 year vet, he will be vilified by some and branded a failure.

IE: Just look at what is being said about Tolzien.

I will defend him, just like I do all other players on the 53 man roster.

No matter where they went to college.

Ted does his job, selecting these guys, I figure he must know what he's doing, or The Packers would not have hired him/and kept him.

Again, it was a joke.

I'm high on the kid.

I hope this was just a roster move and not some perverse attempt at hiding a serious neck injury.

Yeah don't see the kid cracking the starting lineup but he was good in ST in college so perhaps he gives our coverage a boost.

Mucky Tundra (23-Apr) : is Aiyuk worth a 1st rounder?
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : 49ers are seeking a 1st round pick in exchange for WR Brandon Aiyuk
Mucky Tundra (22-Apr) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Zach Wilson to Broncos.

beast (22-Apr) : Someday we'll have a draft betting scandal
beast (21-Apr) : Sometimes looking extremely amazing, sometimes looking extremely lost
beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
