A.J. Hawk didn't have a dramatically better year in 2013 than previous years. Fans merely gave him the credit he's deserved.

2013
Tackles: 118
Sacks: 5.0

2012
Tackles: 120
Sacks: 3.0

Haven't you guys riled up poor Buckeye enough?

I actually thought Hawk did have a pretty good year. I didn't see him getting burned by 5 yards deep down the seam. The balls completed on him were usually pretty well thrown. He was noticeably leaner, which kind of bit him in the ass on a few plays when he got run over - but for the most part, he played pretty well.

I guess that means he has reached the top and leveled off. Nothing wrong with that.

I thought there was no doubt that he improved. Came in lighter, which helped his speed and coverage, and that was noticeable.

He was coming off of two pretty poor seasons, so this was good to see. I would like to see what he would do with a legit ILB alongside of him. Oddly enough, we lost Bishop and his effectiveness plummeted. Bishop is another player Ted never really replaced.

Hawk has been the same player he has always been. Reliable and none risk taking. Even his position coach joked that he would like to see Hawk take a risk here and there, but then followed it up with that he's the most assignment sure player on defense.

I think those who say Hawk really came into his own or really had a great year ... haven't really paid much attention to Hawk in the first place.

I thought he cut down on the number of yards lost per tackle. Maybe down to 3 instead of his customary 5-7.

Without looking at tape,

That could be more of a reflection in the DL for constantly getting blown off the LoS.

If what we want is a marginal player in an important position, then he's our man. If he was the second best ILB, then no problem. But you look around at what most teams in the league have at ILB or MLB, and Hawk doesn't stack up very well - Jones even worse. Putting an athletic young ILB beside Hawk, then replacing Hawk with another quality young ILB in a year or so is pretty much what we need to do. Hopefully Thompson will get that done. Borland in the second or third round would help a lot. Just starting Lattimore over Jones would help some.

He's the one guy on our team that we can depend on to show up every week. As long as he can stay healthy, the Packers are in no position to replace him with yet another injury prone player.

Jones is fine when he's healthy. Can also swing to OLB in a pinch.

Sure, he's fine . . . as a back up.

AJ would be a fine player next to a playmaker.
He's not a playmaker and we need to find one.

I agree with everyone saying he needs to be the second best ILB on the team.

Hawk for his career may not have made the most flashy plays, he just has done what is needed to allow others around him to make plays. Amazing how many times Hawk has been criticized for being dragged for a few yards on a tackle when it never should have been him making the tackle in the first place. Hawk is the backside LB on most plays and his main job is to not let the RB get a big run by cutting back and he does a pretty good job of that.

I don't think A.J. Hawk is the problem. I think Hawk being the best ILB is the problem.

Just HEALTHY lbr's inside and out, would make a world of difference.

But hey that's JMO,

Hawk's replacement is already on the roster, he just needs a little seasoning!!!!!

As tasty as it is, I don't think Sriacha is going to help any of our ILBs.

Nonstopdrivel (22-Feb) : should have done*
Zero2Cool (21-Feb) : Hi 😊😉
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : I guess I should have did a refresh when I walked away from the computer.
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : Peters is 25 with one year left on his contract at just over $3M
Zero2Cool (21-Feb) : Mel Kiper sticks with Marcus Davenport to GB in 2nd mock
Zero2Cool (21-Feb) : As for Marcus Peters, how old is he an what's his contract years left?
Zero2Cool (21-Feb) : Packers got tired of Sitton's antics.
Zero2Cool (21-Feb) : Sitton was released not because of play or salary, but personality. He will not be re-signed.
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : If we are planning on possibly cutting Cobb I can see the 2nd round pick. A second round pick for Peters is a pretty good deal.
Smokey (21-Feb) : I'd offer Cobb + a 3rd round pick + a 6th round pick in 2019 for the CB Peters from KC.
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : I guess that is a highter round pick
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : Suggestion was a 2nd round pick. I would want a lower round pick. I think that is too much. A 3rd or 4th seems about right.
Smokey (21-Feb) : Cobb and WHAT PICK ?
TheKanataThrilla (21-Feb) : A suggestion I saw was a trade of Cobb and a Pick for Peters. I think that would be a great move.
Smokey (21-Feb) : Sitton was drafted be GB in 2008, not a young man at this point, but still is a "bear" of a man.
Cheesey (21-Feb) : Sitton? Maybe if the price is right.
Cheesey (21-Feb) : I doubt the Packers would try to resign Sutton. But who knows? If the price is right?
Zero2Cool (20-Feb) : Bears declining option on Josh Sitton. He'll be Free Agent.
Zero2Cool (20-Feb) : Chiefs CB Marcus Peters trade rumors -- come to Packers!
