I think they actually cut him and are on the hook for several million this year because of it.

Did I read wrong when this deal was originally made, but I think The Bears are actually paying Peppers more than The Packers are this year.

Anybody know for sure?

Ted doesn't jump in the pool often, but when he does he seems to make a big splash!!!!

I heard that Julius Peppers will count twice as much on the Bears cap than the Packers.

According the wise sage known as Zero2Cool, this is true!

Edit: Chicago Bears take salary cap hit for Julius Peppers

For the Bears the choices were keep him and count 18 million against the cap (he wasn't going to renegotiate) or cut him and count 8 million (I think those figures are about right) They had 8 million in dead money but they freed up 10 by letting him go. I don't think he actually got any salary from the Bears this season. I think it was his prorated signing bonus that hit the Bears cap but I could be wrong.

He won't be as cheap for us next year though and if we cut him we will be in a similar situation (though not quite as bad) If we keep him he will count 12 mill against the cap and if we cut him he will count 5 and whoever signs him will probably be saying the same thing about us that we are about the Bears right now.

Another good thing is that he won't count against the Packers when it comes time to figure compensatory picks. James Jones isn't having a terrible year in Oakland and I'd think he would net us a 4th.

OLD THREAD ALERT

Yeah it was a salary cap dump, but the guy can still play. A very poor lack of judgment on their, very happy to scoop up their crumbs.

You were spot on, he could still play. I was quite happy watching him return an INT for a TD. If he produces even 75% of what he did last year during this upcoming year, I think that would be fantastic.

Well, as long as they don't run him into the ground like they did the first 10 or so games of the season (granted with rest he rebounded in the playoffs) I think he'll be fine.

He'll definitely be on a pitch count this year. They'll ease him off in December if they can, so he'll be fresh for the playoffs.

To me it seemed like Peppers made most of the plays early on, wondering why Matthews wasn't making more plays, and then at some point that reversed itself And people wondered why Peppers dropped off. I thought maybe teams decided to stop Matthews at the start of the season and as he was making more plays then slide it to Peppers. But overall balanced as the other team was taking one away all year.

But you could be right, maybe Peppers got run down. .. hopefully Neal and Perry will be able to step up.

I'm hoping Jarone Elliot steps up. The good thing is that we have proven players and aren't thin at OLB anymore.

Julius Peppers needs to be a situational pass rusher only. When he is fresh, he is a difference maker, but we can't expect him to stay fresh all season long when playing most the game. Use him right Dom, and he will still be an asset.

Green Bay Packers' NFC divisional playoff snap counts

Quote:
After playing 76.3 percent the snaps in the first 14 games of the season, Peppers has played just 65.3 percent of snaps in the past three games. The rest might have helped. He played perhaps his best game of the season on Sunday with 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles

uffda udfa (53m) : It's just fine.
musccy (1h) : 5 questionable Packers, none for Falcons. Not good.
uffda udfa (1h) : Jordy not listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL. Questionable on injury report.
uffda udfa (2h) : This is the 6th straight game we've faced someone for the 2nd time. We learn.
uffda udfa (2h) : Aaron: I like our role. I like our chances. (said he relishes being an underdog)
uffda udfa (2h) : Aaron alludes to fake crowd noise at Georgia Dome for Sunday.
uffda udfa (3h) : So, to recap. Losing streak "just the way it is", winning streak "astronomical feat". #Balanced
uffda udfa (3h) : Ironically, he called the turn around "astronomical" not just the way it is in the NFL. #Don'tMissTheIrony
uffda udfa (3h) : Ted tells Demovsky the Packers weren't underachieving when 4-6. Just the way it is in the NFL????
Zero2Cool (7h) : Only time I recall getting annoyed is when they beat a single topic over and over and over.
Pack93z (7h) : Most yes... Heller seems to get it more so... diversity in his coverage... but seemingly can highlight the pressing issues properly.
Zero2Cool (7h) : I'm kind of in the boat that they all are babblying boonies.
Pack93z (7h) : God bless it... Bill Michaels can be a stubborn SOB at times... love his Packers coverage, still think he is a buffoon at times.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Jordy Nelson Named PFWA Comeback Player of the Year
Zero2Cool (9h) : Carter is predicitng the end is in ATL for Packers.
Porforis (9h) : Or I could just completely miss the part where that was Cris Carter.
Porforis (9h) : Careful there. Don't you want to predict a Packers loss just in case?
Zero2Cool (10h) : @criscarter80 :Every fairy tale comes to an end, and this is where the magic carpet ride stops in the ATL.
Zero2Cool (10h) : McCarthy: "JC Tretter actually had surgery Tuesday. He won't be available this week"
Zero2Cool (11h) : Crosby is fine now. Full Participant in practice Thursday
Porforis (11h) : What I'm more worried about at this point is WR injuries and Crosby being sick. Who'd be the backup if Crosby can't go?
Zero2Cool (12h) : We do have hope. Our secondary has improved. Also, he had to throw 80% to get 1 point up. That won't happen again.
Zero2Cool (12h) : I like to tease sometimes.
uffda udfa (12h) : Only 80%? :). We lost by one given that stat? Wish we had hope of tightening up.
uffda udfa (12h) : Z, u should tell everyone who Quintorris is. Quintorris Lopez Jones, better known as Julio.
Zero2Cool (12h) : Matt Ryan completed 80% of his passes against Packers in October.
uffda udfa (12h) : McGinn goes full on attack mode dismissing the notion of "Packers people". Harsh.
uffda udfa (12h) : McGinn says John Dorsey likely to be next Packers GM.
Zero2Cool (15h) : Boom! Davante Adams says last year's ankle injury "more difficult to deal with'
uffda udfa (18h) : Packers brass potentially leaving? Not worthy of discussing. Pressure Cooker? Never enough talk about them.
Zero2Cool (23h) : Put Quintorris in a pressure cooker.
uffda udfa (19-Jan) : Back to football: Julio says he's going to play Sunday. Did NOT say he wouldn't be limited in the game.
uffda udfa (19-Jan) : Anyone ever used their dishwasher to make their Thanksgiving turkey?
uffda udfa (19-Jan) : Favorite Ronnie Milsap song? Smokey Mountain Rain or Any Day Now?
uffda udfa (19-Jan) : Favorite GM candidate... Wolf or Gutekunst?
