So much stuff out there on Manziel. He will go top 3... to he won't go in 1st round at all. Wow...what a scenario that would be...Packers on the clock and Johnny Football still on the board. No reason in this for fun scenario to think that the Packers could trade down as someone would want to move up to grab him save for the fact the Eagles are after Green Bay and Chip Kelly was totally devastated he didn't get this kid to come to Duck land.

If Manziel is there and trading down is not a possibility would you consider taking him?

My answer is... YES. If you're really taking BPA how can you consider passing on him despite having Rodgers? No one knows for sure, but that kid has a real possibility of being a rare NFL talent. I couldn't not take him if I was making the call. Way too much upside that would be "wasted" so to speak as he likely would be a non-starter, for years, but I'd love knowing if Rodgers went down we could potentially have a Bledsoe/Brady torch pass if he did.

Would love to see Packers in that position solely for the drama of it all. Ted Thompson could fleece some team trying to jump in front of the Eagles or he could take the college legend. I don't see any way where if we're in that scenario where we pick someone else at 21.

If Johnny Manziel is BPA at 21, I hope the Packers trade out of the pick and give it to someone who is in need of a quarterback who, imo, think will be a huge flop.

If Ted took Manziel there, his phones would be lit up immediately, and the light would be brighter than the sun.

I believe he could trade him for a king's ransom.

All of these insanely QB needy teams passing up their opportunities to take their QB in the hopes of doubling up on top talent by possibly getting them in R2 are a bunch of a$holes and should be made to pay.

f*ck you Minnesota. You've got Fran Tarkington II staring you in the face and you take a LB? f*ck you.

And f*ck you too Dallas.

I have said this before and it is just as true now.

Trade the pick don't take a qb you don't need. If Uncle Teddy doesn't feel he is getting enough value for the pick take someone else.

There was a huge difference between taking Aaron Rodgers and Manziel. Brett only had a few years to go, if that much. Aaron has 5 or more. It would be a wasted pick.

What if it nets you an R2, and R3 and a future R1?

BTW wpr, that video cracks me up. Freaking hilarious.

I am all in favor of that trade. I don't see why Uncle Teddy wouldn't be too.

I don't like him because he's too short. Maybe he's ok, I don't know.

I don't know how Ted has evaluated him.

If we do take him, Mike is just the guy to make a player out of him. But that's gonna be a year or two down the road when he pays dividends, probably a R1.

If a team isn't willing to trade up to that pick to take him I don't see why they would give up that much to get him after he's been picked. I mean heck if it's a team drafting early in the 2nd they could probably get the trade up with just the 2 and the 3.

Bad investment. First of all you are giving up a 1st round pick. Then to get anything out of him he has to get substantial enough playing time that another team is confident in his ability. The playing time has to be fairly early enough that a team won't just be willing to wait out his contract if there's only a year left. He also has to play pro-bowl like in his probably small amount of opportunity just to even break even with a 1st round pick. To me all of that just doesn't seem that likely. Even less likely to land more than a 1st in the end.

Oh he'll, I couldn't do it anyway. We need to win a Super Bowl, not to f*ck around. Hey, haven't we been through this?

And, the Michael Scott NO is pretty damn funny too

He'll get a QB school, then TC and preseason. Maybe another next year.

Thing is, he's kind of a sandlot guy. Might have alot to learn. Kind of reminds me of a young Matt Flynn, only with a bit stronger arm.

Face. Palm. Why didn't I think of the obvious. Of course GB will draft Jordan Lynch and move him to safety so how many QB converted to safeties do you want?

Worked out well enough for Tanner McEvoy and the Badgers last year.

I know some are thinking about this in correlation to when Aaron Rodgers was drafted.

Lets back up.

2005 - Brett Favre had already begun his waffling about retiring.
Favre was 35 years old
Favre had started over 200 games

2014 - Aaron Rodgers has stated he feels he is in the middle of his career. Coincidence?
Rodgers is 30 years old
Rodgers has started less than 100 games

2005 it made sense to draft the heir apparent.
2014 it does NOT make sense to draft the heir apparent. Especially with all the rules putting sparkling dresses on QB's.

And if you draft Johnny Manziel hoping to trade him, that is a mistake Ted Thompson will not ever EVER make. He is not a count your chickens before they hatch kind of person. He is not going to dismiss his scouting efforts on the HOPE that someone gives him picks on a player 31 teams know he does not need.
