Brett Favre the best ever? [duh] There's no way in the world the "best ever" throws that many stupid interceptions in his career. Guy most fun to watch...maybe...but no way in the world is he the best ever or even the best ever in Green Bay. I would take Aaron Rodgers 10 times out of 10 over Brett Favre even if Aaron's career was already over today.

Brett was the best ever at being blackmailed to take a dive in the playoffs year after year.

And 7>5. Do you rate Otto Graham above all quarterbacks ever?

Tied for 2nd with Rodgers and Sammy Baugh.

Gosh, did I ignite this "RING" firestorm? And just by commenting that Aaron Rodgers is the greatest QB in this history of the world? Actually, I didn't even word it right; I shoulda said Rodgers WILL BE the greatest QB in history by the time he his done. Right now, that honor goes to BRETT FAVRE!

Jump Ball hahahaha.

I say again, Bart Starr was the hero of the team I loved growing up. However, who you have playing with you and coaching makes a huge difference in winning championships. It also makes a difference who is playing against you, including how many teams are even in the league.

Favre breaks the top 40 if he is lucky. He probably gets pushed out of that if Wilson can keep it up until he has the minimum number of passing attempts that qualifies for having a career.

Favre isn't even the 3rd best Packer QB.

That's tough, for two reasons:

1. I never saw Graham play outside of occasional highlight reels.
2. The difference between 5 and 7 (40% bigger) and between 1 and 5 (400% bigger) is a lot smaller. An order of magnitude smaller, in fact.

So Graham v. Starr is a toughie.

Graham v. Rodgers? That's easy.

Graham.

From a percentage basis, 1 is immeasurably larger than 0, does that make Dilfer over Marino an easy decision?

Say what you want about Dilfer, but he wasn't out there trying to pad his stats to the detriment of the rest of the team.

Right... he just skipped straight over the padding and right to the detriment part.

If you were referring to Brees or Stafford or someone who throws the ball 40+ times a game no matter the situation I could see it but you are referring to Rodgers who doesn't pad his stats at all so you are just full of shit. Of course you won't have any proof or reasoning to offer up like you haven't for years you'll just keep on spouting the same bullshit that doesn't even make sense.

I've honestly never heard anyone claim Otto Graham as the greatest quarterback ever. He hardly ever gets mentioned in my experience, which is a shame because he deserves to be discussed as one of the greats. I just wouldn't rate him number 1.

I'm aware it will probably never go away, but it's not going to stop me from dispising it as an argument. It's, at best, intellectually dishonest, which is I suppose the point you're making about whatever works to your advantage.

You may be right. I sometimes get the old guys confused, and why not, I am an confused old guy myself. I think I was thinking of Sammy Baugh and not Otto Graham.

I don't like it as an argument either. It totally disregards the other players on the team not to mention coaching and all the other intangibles. You can take the best QB ever (we will find out who that is in the other thread) and put him on some of those Packers teams of the 70's and 80's and they still were not winning division much less the Super Bowl and guys like Dilfer prove it takes a village.

The percentage function is not defined over the range [0,1], only over the range (0,1].

That's why I said immeasurably and not infinitely... though maybe you still have me on a technicality?

Rodgers does what it takes to win games. High completion %, High TD%, High yards per attempt and Low INT% win games. But doing that also increases the stats.

Which is he doing. Winning games so the stats go up or increasing stats to win games?

Regardless, playing to win increases stats that coorelate to winning.

If Rodgers was just out to increase his stats, he would be throwing it more than Stafford and Brees.

Rodgers throws it better. Not more.
