Brett Favre said:
Facts are that the relationship is a good relationship. I've had contact with Mark murphy on a regular basis about how we're going to do this.

I was going to go to a game last year but it didn't work out [due to high school football coaching commitments].

To me, it's a good relationship. I do believe time heals wounds in a lot of ways. I'm fine with coming back. It's going to be a great ceremony. We are going to do it, it's just a matter of when. From my end everything's good.

I don't [worry about being booed]. I've heard it's a concern, and I'm here to tell you I'm not worried about that.

At a different point in the interview, this point was said and I thought it was interesting. Interesting because he's calling those who view him as anything but a Packer as not true Packers backers. Uh oh!!! Lets Box!
Brett Favre said:
I will be remembered as a Packer. The true Packer backers, and there's a ton of them out there, feel the same way.

Better quote...
“I’ve heard that was a concern of mine, and I’m here to tell you I’m not,” Favre said on ESPN 1000. “I’m not worried about that. I’m well aware that you can’t please everyone. Not everyone’s going to like you regardless, and you know what, so be it. But I think the 16 years that I had in Green Bay speaks for itself.”

Favre was booed off the field the last time he played at Lambeau with the Vikings, but he thinks he’d be cheered if he returned to have his green and gold No. 4 jersey retired.

“I have played with other teams, but I will be remembered as a Packer,” Favre said. “I feel that. I think the true Packer backers, which there are tons out there, feel the same way. I’m not the first player to play for other teams or rivals. . . . As time goes by, that’s how I will be remembered, as a Packer, and that’s how I want to be remembered.”

I'm not sure why you highlighted the one quote, but it appears to be in response to a different question, not about him getting booed.

I'm not sure why it would matter, but I edited the quote to make a distinction. 8-[

The point being is that he feels he is always a Packer and quite honestly, not sure it matters what context it was stated in.

Sorry, not trying to sound nit picky and uppity. I was just saying by highlighting it, when I read it, it seemed like Brett was saying true packers fans wouldn't boo him, but when I went to the article, the two quotes weren't really related.

You weren't being either. I was just confused why it mattered, but now you explained it, I understand gooder. I'll split the quotes so no one else gets the same confusion. [grin1]

Well true Packers fans probably won't boo the Diva, but intelligent Packers fans can differentiate the difference between the on field player and the very questionable character the man diplayed in his Exodus from Packers nation. I won't be there so I really don't care when or how all this goes down.

It's kind of cheese dick move to say true Packers fans would do this or that. I remember Sniffles Irvin warning Favre not to put on that sperm headed helmet because he would alienate a lot of Packers fans. Sniffles was correct.

Agreed, his "true packer" comments are another example of what a cheese dick he really was not just when he left GB, but during his entire time with the team, the Jets (sexting), Vikes, etc.

That said, I do ultimately respect what he did between the hashes, even if I know about and disrespect him for the cheese dick that he was outside of the stadium.

I will always remember him as the guy who tried to sabotage the Packers by running to the rest of the NFCN and explaining his playbook to them.

Real Packer fans should be fans of the Packers. Not just Favre. He can't sabotage the Packers without doing the same to the fans. He can't stick it to the team without sticking it to the fans. He can't fake a retirement to break a contract and try to force the team to release him or go over the cap limit and pay the penalty and expect the fans to say "Thanks, here is the greatest honor the Packers have ever given."

Love grown adults getting panties in a bunch over this topic still.

My panties got un-bunched when Rodgers lifted the Lombardi over his head in Dallas. If Favre gets booed in Lambeau, the SOB deserves every bit of it, and by now he should be man enough to accept the criticism of a situation he completed created and is 100% responsible for.

I'm with you. That ring in 2010 pretty much drained all bitterness, especially since the Packers trounced his team twice on the way to winning it.

To me he just got exposed as a bit of a phony. He was portrayed in the media as this great family man, who loved football with all his heart and all that, yet there was the sexting issue with the Jets, he was somewhat notorious for not working much in the offseason. Added to that was the yearly will he or won't he retire charade, which I perceived to be his doing to get people to drool over him. Maybe I'm wrong, and most people can just look at what he did on the football field and that's fine. Just for me, all of that contributes to how I remember him.

I still enjoyed watching what he did on the football field most of the time, and think he should get his number retired.

I love people pandering to him like a battered woman going back to her abuser after he says. "Huh... sorry." like Bluto after he smashed the guitar.

I am apathetic over the whole issue. He did some good/great things on the field. He did some pretty lousy things on the field. (Most of the time it was because of his ego. Both the good and the bad.)

He could be decent at times off the field but then again he was pretty disgusting a number of times off field as well.

In the end he looked and acted like a little weasel. Not only slobbering all over the place in order to get to MN and screw Ted but he also told Cutler to beat GB after MN lost to the bares.

His number will be retired. He will go into the Hall and life will go on. Or it won't. In either case it just doesn't matter. I figure the worst thing you can do to Brett is not care about him or what he does.

I'll sound a little nerdy here, but there was a Simpsons Halloween segment in the 90s where characters from ad campaigns turned into giant monsters destroying the city. To defeat them the citizens just had to ignore them since the ad. Monsters survived due toattention.

I think he definitely cares. And he should. He's one of the greatest players in franchise history. In fact, he should do a better job of showing Packer fans that he does care. Why should Packer fans care about him if he doesn't care? Part of Favre's media persona is his whatever attitude. It hurts him in this case, in my view. Show fans that you care, and they'll welcome you back. But it's harder to move on when he acts like this isn't big deal. It is.

I would never boo Brett Favre back in Lambeau. I did not like his lack of class when he left us, but I'm most appreciative of his time with us, plus ALL the Packer nation understands that, have absorbed it, and ultimately, are simple Wisconsin folk that will forgive and forget.

Brett Favre is welcome back in Wisconsin, our latent passions notwithstanding. He will not be booed.

This is not a place like Philadelphia. This is Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This is history, and does nothing for the 2014 Green Bay Packers. I just thought I'd mention that.
