One of the only two SportsCenter people I ever really enjoyed. I haven't had cable in a very long time so hearing all the things about the football to the eye and then cancer were all very surprising. And now he's gone. The last part I quoted is what touched me the most.

ESPN's Story

Rich Eisen remembering Stuart

On Sunday, the veteran ESPN "SportsCenter" anchor died after a years-long battle with cancer, the network said Sunday.

He was 49.

Scott spent the last 21 years on the air for ESPN, and his anchoring included coverage of NFL and NBA games.

Viewers may remember him for his trademark catchphrases, such as, "Boo-yah" ... "He's as cool as the other side of the pillow" ... "He must be butter because he's on a roll" ... and "See, what had happened was ..."

His first diagnosis of stomach cancer came in November 2007, after he felt ill during a broadcast of "Monday Night Football," and ESPN said Scott "went through several surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and clinical trials to stay strong and ward off cancer for as long as humanly possible."

Despite the cancer, he was resilient.

"Here's what I do right (after) chemo. Leave the infusion center & go STRAIGHT 2 either do a p90x wkout or train MMA..THATS how you #LIVESTRONG," he posted online in January when he received a third diagnosis.

In November, Scott responded to rumors that he was in hospice: "Not True. Airball. Swing & a miss."

Beloved as an anchor, colleague and father

Scott was remembered as a dedicated family man. He called his two daughters "my heartbeat."

In September, he was in the hospital when his youngest started in her first high school varsity soccer game.

"I DIDNT miss it," he posted online. "A friend I love ... FACETIMED me all game. Saw my daughtrs 3-goal "HATRICK" in a 3-1 win. I was cryin & yelling so ... Loud, nurses came in worried."

I always enjoyed Stuart's take, he was a good man, good father and good person.
He will always be "Cool as the other side the pillow".
Stuart, you will be missed but not forgotten.

I had no idea he was in this bad of shape until this morning. I really enjoyed the videos by Hannah Storm and Rich Eisen...shows how much he meant to people. RIP

You really don't know what this man went through until you watch one of your own close family members go through it. When you become part of the extended cancer family you receive great support, but what you really do is walk it all alone. It is kind of strange, but people have really busy lives, and families of cancer patients have much different lives than that of normal people. Priorities are much different.

We just went through another cancer episode with Mia. She developed a tumor on her thyroid and the entire thyroid needed to be remove along with a treatment of radioactive iodine. I've now accepted that my daughter is probably not going to have a long full life as she obviously has active cancer cells in her body. It isn't going to be the length of her life that matters, it is going to be the quality of the life we are able to provide her and the dignity in which she continues to battle for her health.

I didn't share all this before because, frankly, it all went pretty fast. In April she'll get scans again to monitor for tumors, and all we can do is pray that none form, even though I really don't think it has a whole hell of a lot to do with the man upstairs. People like to pray and if it make them feel better, that's what they should do.

As for Stuart Scott, he fought a brave battle against a fixed outcome. What he did was fought it with dignity, which is what my family will try to do with Mia.

RIP Stuart Scott. My heart goes out to his family.

He was one of the best at what he did. And based on what I saw on the ESPYs, he did more than just do sports highlights.

Booya has always been one of my favorite catch phrases. I often blurt it out when watching the Packers, or just watching sports in general. I kind of figured Eison would do something like that, and I'm glad he did.

RIP Stu.

beast (5-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft has been an offensive player since 2017, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC

Mucky Tundra (4-Apr) : Gotta imagine that Green Bay vs Houston will be a primetime game this upcoming season
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : No. Kill QB. No worries. 😁
Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Stefon Diggs' trade will not be processed as a post-June 1 designation, so that is just over $31 million in dead cap this year.
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 2nd-round pick. (via @rapsheet)
