Of course, your 40 time has no impact on the other numbers. Are things as regulated at a USF pro day as they are in Indy? I don't honestly know. You were trying to find reasons why his #'s were so different. You concluded it must've been Barrington not being himself. I'm not as sure of that as you are and wonder if it wasn't the fact that things aren't the same as they are in Indy. How exactly does a guy improve on numbers in 62 degrees and lots of wind vs. a nice comfortable 75 and indoors? Sam lives in FLORIDA. 62 is a cold day for him. I find it curious his muscles would be looser at 62 degrees and wind than they would vs. being in climate controlled Indy. Makes no sense. It is more plausible that things were just a little different at USF than Indy not that Sam was injured. If Sam was injured he and his agent are two of the dumbest people around. You don't go out and put up numbers while injured that can ruin your ability to be drafted or get picked up later as a UDFA when you know you have a pro day coming.

Why does someone playing well indicate they're athletic? Barrington can be a fine player and not athletic. It's not mutually exclusive... I just lamented he wasn't more athletic...IE: Too slow. I would prefer our LB's have better speed. Brad Jones had unreal speed for a LB but he isn't the player Sam is.

Bottom line is that this D has needed veteran leadership for years. The Dbacks had it until we lost Woody. Tramon was more of a silent leader. But we haven't had much of it up front.

So if Barrington wants to be that guy, he's welcome to take his best shot. Daniels was attempting to do so last year, he acquitted himself pretty well.

Players with fast 40 times are generally fast on the football field, and conversely, players with slow 40 times are generally slower than those with better 40 times. As with any individual or positional drill, it is an indicator, and nothing more. But it's a useful metric.

Barrington didn't do the 3 coner at the combine... probably realized his 40 time sucked big time and it wasn't smart to do even further damage with the 3 cone.

It just amazes me the level of defense provided to Barrington because he's a Packer. Anyone who follows the NFL closely knows that 4.91 is a horrific 40 time for a LB. Datone, who came out the same year, ran a 4.80 at 283lbs. Sharrif Floyd ran 4.92 at 297lbs.

For a LB to run 4.91... Wow, just wow. B-R-U-T-A-L. Make any excuse you'd like. The 40 time is one of the most influential tools in the NFL draft.

Chris Borland, noted for his total lack of athleticism, ran a 4.83, which was HORRIBLE. Somehow, Barrington is being defended for running 4.91? He lasted until the 7th for a reason and I guarantee 4.91 was chief among them.

My issue has nothing to do with him being a Packer. My issue was with you calling him unathletic because of a 40 time. He definitely looks like an athlete on the football field.

Zero2Cool (7h) : I hope they take a Punter at 9th overall. Be bold!
Mucky Tundra (8h) : I may end up eating those words but I think they need a lot more talent then their 4 picks can provide

Martha Careful (23-Apr) : IMHO, not even close. He is not a guy you game play around.
Mucky Tundra (23-Apr) : is Aiyuk worth a 1st rounder?
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : 49ers are seeking a 1st round pick in exchange for WR Brandon Aiyuk
Mucky Tundra (22-Apr) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day

beast (22-Apr) : Someday we'll have a draft betting scandal
beast (21-Apr) : Sometimes looking extremely amazing, sometimes looking extremely lost
beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
