I've been a little different. I didn't see TE or ILB as our big needs. Don't get me wrong, improvement at either would be nice but not what I think the team really needs. I want the trenches. Look at the teams that have really given us trouble, what do the have. A pass rush. Whether DE,DT,OLB as long as it creates pass rush press on opposing QBs.

Offensively protect Rodgers and make lanes for Lacy and Stark and that happens up front. and if we don't look at that now it will be an even bigger need next year. I don't see us paying both Sitton and Lang and Bahktiari isn't good enough for the salary he will probably be offered so we need to go after these positions now.

We have ILBers who can play the run, what we need is coverage and as we go into our coverage packages, expect ILBers to be pulled in favor or DBs.

I hope they don't waste a pick on a punter. Get some afterwards.

http://www.packershome.com/forum/posts/t24641-Peek-to-2017  and I am not worried. Josh Sitton is the only one who is a MUST KEEP player. I will add my thoughts on that in that thread.

Jared Cook is 28 or 29 and if he does great things FOR the offense, he will be inked. Also, the 2017 cap is projected to increase almost $10 million.

I disagree with your disagreement of my disagreement!

60% of the line is due big money, and Bulaga is injury prone. Datone and Lacy are already in prove it contracts, and although I'm sure Ted was trying to avoid Perry and Cook in 1 year rental deals, but I imagine all 4 will play like Tarzan in 2016, then demand Tarzan money in 11 months.

Yes the cap is going up, but agents know that too...that'll just drive the ceiling of individual contracts, not equate to more money spread to more guys.

OL -- tackles are slim pickings this year; going to have to reach or trade up. guard/center -- lots of possibilities here.
DL -- best position of draft. So much late first/second round talent here that some will likely fall well into third. Probably team's #1 need. Love to see 2 or even three picks here.
ILB -- weak class. Real need, but going to have to reach/trade up to get value.
TE -- still need another IMO, but deep enough to take late.
OLB -- well distributed, especially in top half of draft. Should be able to get a real player/upgrade here.
S -- some value in top half of draft; not deep, though. Only one first rounder (Ramsey) and he'll be long gone.
CB -- IMO no first rounders other than Ramsey (though a couple more will go); like the value here throughout the draft.
WR -- Lots of possibilities here. Improvement on Adams/Abbrederis/Janis possible as late as fifth or even sixth round.

I personally wish they could get OT and ILB in the first three rounds, but best early value is going to be DT/DE/OLB. Unless someone at OT/ILB does a full-round or more fall in the manner of A-Rod's, any additions at these positions are going to be backup guys. Not only won't they challenge Bahktiari/Bulaga or Ryan/Barrington this year, they're likely to have even less upside. Sigh.

On the other hand, DL/OLB talent offers the possibility for substantial improvement across the front, and so maybe the ILB weakness won't matter as much. And at least there's some enough interior line quality through mid-rounds that the OL backups will be better.

DL/OLB:
Top 10 value: DeForest Buckner (DE, also DT), Joey Bosa (OLB, also DE),
Possible fall to 15 or below (worth thinking of a trade-up if so): A'Shawn Robinson (DT, also DE), Andrew Billings (DT);
Worth the 27 pick: Vernon Butler (DT), Kevin Dodd (DE)
Second round value: Austin Johnson (DT); Robert Nkemdiche (DT, also DE), Sheldon Rankins (DT), Leonard Floyd (OLB, also DE), Shaq Lawson (DE), Su'A Cravens (OLB, also ILB/SS), Chris Jones (DT, also DE),
Third/top 1/2 of fourth value : Jonathan Bullard (DT), Jarran Reed (DT), Emmanuel Ogbah (DE), Noah Spence (DE); Josh Perry (OLB, also ILB); Shilque Calhoun (DE, also OLB); Adolphus Washington (DT, also DE), Hassan Ridgeway (DT), Javon Hargrave (DT), Sheldon Day (DE, also DT), Carl Nassib (DE), Charles Tapper (DE), Deion Jones (OLB), Jordan Jenkins (OLB), Kyler Fackrell (OLB, also DE), Shawn Oakman (DE), Matt Judon (DE, also OLB), Jatavis Brown (OLB, also ILB/SS).

By my count, that is six with a first-round grade of some sort, and another 25 with top-120 value.

Compare that with OT:
First round value: Laremy Tunsil, Ronnie Stanley, Taylor Decker.
Second round value: Jack Conklin (early), Jason Spriggs, Shon Coleman (late), Le'Raven Clark (late)
Third/fourth round value: Jerald Hawkins (RT only) Conner McGovern (RT only), German Ifedi (more a guard), Vadal Alexander (really a guard)

Only eleven players with a round four or higher grade, two are only right tackles and two are really guards who played tackle in college. And of the LT-capable players, four (Tunsil/Stanley/Decker/Conklin) will almost certainly be gone when the Packers get on the clock at #27 and two of the other three (Coleman, Clark) would be a major reach there.

If the Packers make no trades in the first three rounds, the best value available at each pick is likely to be:
1st: DT/DE
2nd: DT/DE/OLB.
3rd: DE/OLB/OG/WR.

So, my gut tells me unless someone falls big, they're going to leave OL and ILB until at least the fourth round.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
