Either way, it's ridiculous to complain about this. Just as it's ridiculous to say this game is on par with the Denver/San Diego referee wise.

With this rule alone, you can go back and find a team that has done this at least once a game... EVERY game. Just like you can with pass interference and offensive holding.

You say that now because YOUR team won...\

And holding or p-i 90% of the time does not led to a score..

The safety and the Al Harris led to 5 points

and you know for a FACT at leas tone of those should not have been called..

I still say it wouldnt have mattered..

The Packers were destined to lose..

But point is, they shouldnt have been CALLED

How did the Al Harris thing lead to points?

And I still stick to my guns that the safety was legit. Too legit to quit.

And you keep bringing up those calls/non-calls. It took me a total of 2 minutes to get over the piss poor non-calls against Al Harris mugging the Vikings WRs during week one. You win some, you lose some.

Hands to the face when no hands were near the face..that was a 3rd down, it got you a 1st down then led to a fg..

it shouldnt have been called..Which in turn would have been a punt for the Viks..

and you posted it was ILLEGAL for Brett to take of his helmet?

It was not, that rule was not in place until the 97 season started..

So what Brett did was fully legal

I didn't mean to start a flame war. I was only messin' around with Formo.
I got bigger fish to fry, like a team that will not stop getting called for stupid penalties and fellow fans who are so very, very frustrated. My points were along the "fine line" aspect to an NFL game, for both sides.
and Formo-

If you knew what Brett did was legal, then in no way does it prove your point that it is pointless to argue, because in one instance there was a referee call error which could have changed the game and not in the other, as it was legal.

No cheesey, in Minnesota, they have actually spotted it to their east, just never crossing over to their side of the border. They call it a UFO over there... Unobtainable Football Object... they thought they had one cross in the seventies, but it turned out to be swamp gas emissions from the metrodome.

Edit-- sour grapes mode turned back off (for the moment  )

I'm not siding one way or the other on this. The game is over and nothing can be done about any of it.

Just so you know.

NFL/ESPN
League VP says Peterson should have been penalized for helmet removal

The NFL's vice president of officiating addressed a number of debatable calls Wednesday after another controversial weekend, most notably saying that Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson should have been penalized 15 yards for removing his helmet on the field Sunday during Minnesota's 28-27 victory over Green Bay.

Mike Pereira also said on NFL Sirius Radio that officials correctly called intentional grounding against Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earlier in that game. Finally, Pereira defended the actions of officials at the end of Monday night's game between Arizona and San Francisco.

As for Peterson, Pereira said he violated the NFL's rules prohibiting the removal of helmets when not in the bench area or during a timeout. Peterson removed his helmet at least four times during the game, but Pereira specifically pointed out Peterson's actions after scoring the game-winning touchdown with 2:22 remaining.

"I can't figure out why anything wasn't done about that," Pereira said, "but I will say this: It frustrates me that we didn't do anything about that. You can't take your helmet off either to argue a call or to celebrate. If you're in a timeout period or a measurement or a challenge, there are times when you can take your helmet off on the field. Or when you're nearing your team area when you approach the bench.

"But when you score like that, when you remove your helmet, you should be flagged."

Pereira, however, said referee Alberto Riveron made the right call when he whistled Rodgers for intentional grounding in the end zone during the second quarter, resulting in a safety. Rodgers flipped a sidearm pass in the direction of tight end Tory Humphrey, but Pereira doubted that Rodgers knew Humphrey was there. "[We] have looked at so many of these plays where you get the unnatural throwing motion where the QB is just trying to dump the ball, whether it's behind his back or whether it's flicking it underhand just before he hits the ground when he has no idea who he might be throwing it to.

"Here's the notion to me: When you're going to be on the run like that and you are just totally dumping it either before you're getting tackled for a safety ... that unnatural act of dumping the ball when you're about to be tackled ... [If] you're going to do that, you'd better get it all the way back to the line of scrimmage or you'd better get it to the feet of the receiver. "

Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
beast (25-Mar) : Simply fined in the week to follow
beast (25-Mar) : I agree with one NFL official, it'll probably be like some of the helmets hits, not really called by the refs on the field but simply fined
