When Clay Matthews is not in the game, the Packers pass rush suffers quite a bit. Yet, fans are wanting him gone? Without Clay, it seems Nick Perry has fallen off. I can't imagine why that is.

Anyhow, of course fans can comment on anything. Everything is open season, even a players weight for that matter, or who they are dating or amount of commercials they appear in. I may disagree with the premise of some of them, but no where did I ever say someone couldn't voice their opinion.

The Packers pass rush is a lot different with Clay Matthews on the field, there's no denying that. Even if he is not getting the sacks, he is freeing things up for other players. That is just as good as production if you understand the game of football. Nick Perry has disappeared during Clay's absence. It's no coincidence. When Clay comes back, he's going to get double teamed and guess what, that opens things up for other guys.

Something else to gripe about (separate subject I suppose, lol), why did Mike Daniels only play 60% of the defensive snaps? The guy was moving his dude all over the damn place.

I want to keep Clay and Aaron. I think they are great players and you don't get rid of great players.

I was about to open a new thread but I think this will do: I'm convinced the problem is coaching and not the players.

Let's start with the easy one: Zook

Our special teams are a disaster, we have not made a trick play in eons, kickoff coverage is poor to horrible, punting is poor.
Zook's decisions are hard to digest, Mason can certainly kick it our of bounds but he is being asked to place his kickoffs at the 1 or 2 yard line. The idea of this is that you force the other team to return the kick and you might get them before they reach the 25.
So your coverage team is horrible and you think that this is a great idea? I'm speechless

Now Capers:

We can't stop anything when we need it, we have seen enough this season to know this is true. The players are constantly in miscommunication errors, there's a pathetic lack of adjustment during the games, there's no energy.
We've made Steffon Diggs a one-game superstar, we made freaking Blake Bortles look good.
You have to stop a long drive by Atlanta, just that and it is the only thing you don't do. Finally when everything is almost lost you put a LB to cover a WR at the endzone. Why is a LB in that formation at all?
Indianapolis was playing with a center at guard, a backup center and one of the worst left tackles in the league, you dial a zillion blitzes and you get to Luck.... twice!
Capers has evaded getting fired by getting very good results against very bad teams from time to time but has never produced a defense that will make good teams afraid.

And Mike:

Disclaimer: I really like Mike McCarthy and I think he is a brilliant playcaller sometimes but...
His decision to transit to a no-huddle vanilla offense was a disaster. We had a great offense and we became Oregon playing against NFL teams. It just doesn't work.
We have plenty of very special players like Cobb and Montgomery and the best idea you have is to make them backup RBs? Just imagine what Belichick could do with a guy like Montgomery.
Then you get it working against Atlanta to completely change it again vs the Colts, does this have any rational explanation?
The WRs were getting better against Atlanta so your next plan is to wipe them off the game to make Richard Rodgers our featured target, the same Richard Rodgers that misses most of his blocks, is slow as a turtle and has an average of epsilon yards after carry.
Mike already had his problems when he had his team together, he was absent-minded in game time decisions and was frequently outcoached but now he has also lost the team.

And together:

The Seattle NFC championship fiasco should have been enough to fire them all. Zook didn't "see" the fake punt when it was a very clear possibility, had his team unprepared and failed horribly in the onside kick.
Capers couldn't defend a series that was impossible to see, Wilson runs for his life, heaves a ball into the endzone and we don't get it? Burnett can score a TD and instead drops to the ground?
Mike got the game handed by Seattle mistakes he went as conservative as you can be only to lose the game.

And they survived that game to reach this?

ST gave up a TD. The defense gave up 24 points to a team averaging 26 per game going in. ST also gave up a 60-some yard return. ST also missed a FG. The defense also got two picks. They kept Andrew Luck under 300 yards and with 1 TD, and kept Gore to 60 yards on 19 attempts. Minus the special teams blunders (and I'm not counting the 60 yard return in this because the defense had their chance to stop them), this is a 29-24 victory for the Packers. Expecting 5 TDs a game isn't reasonable. 4 is.

I honestly don't understand what more people want from a defense that can't keep their starters on the field. Even taking that excuse away, they're doing good (but not great) and certainly well enough to win.

People rail on the defense for always giving up monster games to individual receivers. Hilton has the best game, at 82 yards.

People rail on the defense for not getting turnovers. They get two picks this week.

People keep saying the run defense is just waiting to collapse and that they're overperforming. Again, the Packers run defense is great.

If I recall right, 1st half 2nd period 2 ~ 3 minutes left in the game we've got our defense in prevent allowing Rivers to march down the field but not only march down but destroy the clock to not even give us a chance.

Don't get me wrong the offense needs to get a lot of work done as well. For example Rodgers always going deep when there's an easy 1st down pick up opportunity to the FB. The difference between the offense problem vs the defense is that the offense still ends up putting some points on the field.

This team needs a shake up, something big to get all their attention! Fire Capers and get someone that can coach the defense and you see this team go really far.

I know we all want an elite defense, but this defense is definitely good enough to win most games. This is the first game where Special Teams hurt us bad. Usually it's primarily the inept offense. And yes, the defense needs to play better too. I just don't see how a new coach can turn us into a top-10 team with the players we have on the field.

No, it doesn't matter who is on the other side an edge rusher still has to beat the tackle across from him. Clay doesn't really get double teamed either, just watch when he gets back. A large majority of the time it's just him vs the LT unless he's lined up at ILB or on a stunt.

He's not a bad player or anything but he's paid 15m that is game changer money and Clay hasn't really been a game changer since 2012. Even the season they moved him to ILB he wasn't having a good year on the edge so I hate the excuse that move held him back. I don't care who the ILB are if he was playing like he used to at OLB he wouldn't have been moved.
