Now is the time to scout and evaluate this years college seniors . I opened this thread so that members would have a thread to post about upcoming talent .

It may just be that Louisville QB or that Tennessee RB or that Arizona CB , we can research the name if you don't know it . Please post about that player you were impressed with .

I'll be paying special attention moving forward .

If Baker Mayfield is there when we pick, should we take him?

Is he the best player available? If so, then yes

I am more interested in this year's Soph and Jrs that are coming out for the draft. The better skilled kids tend to forego their remaining college eligibility and come out early. Seniors who are in the draft are typically a notch or two lower in skill.

About 1/3 of the players taken in the first round in 2017 were seniors. Those that were Sr's tend to be guys who didn't play for one of the 5 power conference teams. What kind of messes up the numbers are the kids who redshirt a season while in college because of injury or transfer.

What's sad, or maybe funny or just different or maybe even good depending on your point of view, is that in years past where the Packers were picking we all knew that there would be a quite a few players who we could say "he'll be long gone by the time the Packers pick so what's the point in even thinking about him?" This year that number might be a lot smaller than we are used to.

I'm half (sorta) watching South Florida (USF)vs Texas Tech,
Two USF players stood out as interesting (though I'm talking later in the draft).

rSR. DT Deadrin Senat, who reminds me of a heavier, stronger version of DT Christian Ringo, with Ringo like quickness (though doesn't quite use the quickness as well as Ringo), and almost no DT chases plays from behind like Ringo sometimes did.

rJr. WR/tweener Tyre McCants, is a 5'11" tall, 235lb slot WR, who people think could also play RB. His body looks like young Eddie Lacy, they like to use him on quick passes like Stanford did with Ty Montgomery and his routes are slow but seem crisp like James Jones... and while he seems to lack some speed (for a true WR), he's got a very nice physical part to his game, and coaches believe he can play RB and I think he plays like a RB once he gets the ball in his hands. He seems like a WR/TE/RB tweener. He doesn't go down easy and a very willing zone blocker... I haven't seen him ask to drive block, so I don't know how he is in that aspect. Though his numbers look like TE numbers... but he's been on a pretty good offense with them spreading the ball around.

As the 2018 NFL Draft approaches, QBs seen to be getting the most attention. It is speculated that the Jets traded with the Colts to get the #3 pick in order to get a QB. 4 QBs have been talked about the most, but the one who will be chosen first is still a mystery.

RB S.Barkley out of Penn State U. is expected to be the first RB picked in the draft.

At this point, GB will get to pick 4 of the top 100 players in this years draft. Who BG will choose is a closely guarded secret. [biggrin]

gbguy20 (17h) : the coeboys have 110 mil invested in 9 players next year. none of them are named dak, cooper or jones. add the 30+ expected for dak and it comes to 78% of the expected cap. im assuming cooper will ve
Zero2Cool (20h) : Sad ... Mr. Peanut.
Nonstopdrivel (22-Jan) : I've been joking for years that they should give something like this a try, but I never thought I'd see it happen.

Nonstopdrivel (21-Jan) : These Bucks are running roughshod through the NBA. I wish basketball inspired me with a tenth of the passion that football does.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : How did Andy Reid celebrate yesterdays win? “I had a cheeseburger and went to bed.”
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Spend it on OG or WR, those are the too biggest needs. WR obviously clear 1 need.
KRK (21-Jan) : I rather spend the money on the interior of both lines and ILB
RickLM (20-Jan) : Yes. Hunter Henry is someone I want. How do you feel about Corey Littleton? I think he's worth a look too.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Sign TE HUNTER HENRY

Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Can't count them out after last week but I doubt Vrabel will make poor choices like O'Brien did
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Chiefs falling behind early again
Cheesey (19-Jan) : On any given day. If we didn’t belong, we wouldn’t be here.
Zero2Cool (19-Jan) : Matt LaFleur might have lost play calling duties to Arthur Smith if he didn't get GB HC job. Crazy
Zero2Cool (19-Jan) : Play clean game and Packers can win easily
PhoenixPackerFan60 (19-Jan) : I think they have a chance. Not a good one, but a chance.
PhoenixPackerFan60 (19-Jan) : Every single prognosticator on TV says Packers don't belong in this game. Every one is baffled by the 14 wins. Even a couple said this team is an 8-8 caliber team or 9-7, at best but somehow stumb
