I like Courtland Sutton from SMU. These are a good crop of receivers.

If the Packers feel he can rush the edge he's a steal, play him in jake Ryan's place on 1st down then move him outside on passing downs. If he only projects as an ILB he's not nearly as tempting.

I know we've all got out eyes on pass rushers but how angry would you be if we got an offensive lineman or gamechanging offensive playmaker. I want to protect the franchise QB and give him someone who can get separation and break the game open.

Maybe not for this season if Nelson and Cobb return but certainly in the near future. If one of the stud WRs is there I wouldn't mind taking him. If a big guy is there on the OL I wouldn't mind that either.

I hate saying "take the best player available" because at any given point in the draft there may be as many as half a dozen "best players" but at 14 I don't think I'd be to keen on taking a player who needs a year or 2 to develop. A year or 2 to hone his skills and get better sure but you should be able to get someone who can make an impact right away and that's what I want at almost any position. We have very few positions on this team that wouldn't benefit from an upgrade at the starting spot.

Some are picking GB to draft UTSA's DE Marcus Davenport. The 6'6" Davenport has height (and reach) but at 225 lbs. is a bit on the light side. He would be a project for the strength and conditioning coaches.

I still prefer LSU's Arden Key as GB's best Edge Rusher option at the 14th pick. IMO, he will be a catch in this draft, and I'd like to see GB get him.

I like Davenport better at this point but if Key falls to the 2nd or 3rd he'll be an exciting gamble for some team.

The Packers may not pick Key, but they must IMO, acquire this key position player above all else first. Without a "REAL" Edge Rusher, GB will most likely be a 10 - 6 team in 2016 instead of being a 13 - 3 team.

There's not much sense in pigeon holing a player or position in the draft before some of these veteran contracts are hashed out and free agency happens. That's not just for the Packers but for all teams in that their "needs" may very well change by the time the draft roles around. Somebody is going to sign Cousins and a few other top FA's will be gobbled up and that is going to create adjustments to the draft board.

The Packers have an opportunity to possibly get a top 10 player depending on how the draft falls and if there is that player there you take him. If, for example, Calvin Ridley was available how can you not take him? He's a perfect fit for Arod and he and Adam's on the outside would almost be unfair.

Put it this way. If a player like Ridley were available and they took Key instead I would not be thrilled.

Smokey says it has to be an edge rusher and he has to be a monster. Like I said before and Warhawk just said, I'd hate for the Packers to lock themselves onto one position to the extent of ignoring whoever may be available at other positions. If that monster edge rusher is there then of course you take him but to commit to the position regardless of the player just because it may be your greatest need runs the risk of losing out on a much better player at some other position that is also a position of need.

I really do hope that the Packers get the player Smokey wants at #14 (that being a monster edge rusher and not any 1 player specifically,) simply because I agree it may be their biggest need. On the other hand if a top 10 talent at another position drops I'm not going to cry if they choose him over a lesser talented edge rusher.

beast (3-Apr) : Using Patterson as RB and RB/WR tweener... so I think they also signed Patterson as a 3rd down RB, not just a kick returner as articles are
beast (3-Apr) : I think PFT missed the real Steelers/Patterson connection, Steelers new OC Arthur Smith has been Patterson's head coach the last 3 years
wpr (2-Apr) : It has Martha. I was stunned when I was in HS to learn Iowa was still playing half court BB in the 70's.

Mucky Tundra (28-Mar) : End of a Degu-era
dhazer (28-Mar) : Steelers sign Patterson because of new kickoff rule interesting
Zero2Cool (28-Mar) : Former #Packers TE Josiah Deguara is signing a 1-year deal with the Jaguars, per source.
Zero2Cool (28-Mar) : They do not do it for "content sake".
