A thread recognizing moments (seemingly rare) athletes just simply get it... or at least speak as if they get it.

Prime example..

Although HHCD made too many "business decisions" on the field, I get that he got it:

Great idea for a thread, 93.

I'm not a Feijenoord fan, but I love this moment. I know he's aware that there's a camera there and he won't mind the PR-points he scored here, but he did give all those kids a moment they'll carry with them for the rest of their lifes.

Puck hit a kid, Elliott went over to him and chatted with him, took a selfie too. Probably made that kids day.

It's the little things that make such a big difference. Yes the big name athletes can start foundations that raise millions of dollars. That's wonderful. But it's the time they spend saying hello to a kid of giving the child the hockey stick or jersey or whatever that has a more profound and lasting impression. A few years ago I came to the realization that a lot of these professionals are parents themselves and would like it if someone took the time to help their child (or younger sibling) so they too pay it forward with a little bit of their time.

This one million dollars wasn't just $1,000,000. It started something that grew and spawned many others to donate too.

How damn cool is this?

This is Aaron Rodgers.

Hell, watch all of the video's of It's Aaron. The dude simply GETS IT.

Jon Stewart isn't an athlete, but I love it when people know they have the camera and try to use it for good.

I don't know that Jon Stewart had any doings behind the bill, but I'm glad it was passed.

Albert Pujols gets it.

Quote:
Heart-warming moment Angel slugger Albert Pujols takes his own sweater and draws it for an overjoyed young fan with Down syndrome
Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols delights a young Down syndrome fan after a recent competition by giving the boy his own shirt from his back
After Thursday's victory over Blue Jays in Toronto, Pujols walked on to the first baseline where nine-year-old Nico was waiting
The designated candidate player of 6 foot-3, 240 pounds did not hesitate to remove his jersey, take a pen from Nico & # 39; s outstretched hand and sign his name on the back
After this, Nico turned and let Pujols draw the back of his shirt
Nico & # 39; s father, Joe Squarini, posted the video on Twitter and wrote: & # 39; Thank you @ PujolsFive! You made our night. Nico will never forget your @pujolsfound & # 39;
The Albert Pujols Foundation was established to promote & # 39; raise awareness, provide hope and meet tangible needs for children and families living with Down syndrome & # 39;
Pujols & stepdaughter Isabella was born with Down syndrome on January 1, 2000

Zero2Cool (7h) : pretty damn crazy ... still hard to believe. i wonder if he joins XFL with his dad?
Mucky Tundra (8h) : heh, RG III outlasted Luck in the NFL. Imagine telling that to someone 4 or 5 years ago
Mucky Tundra (8h) : I guess there goes that Captain Andrew Luck parody account
Mucky Tundra (8h) : aw Zero beat me to it
Zero2Cool (8h) : 2012 NFL Draft was not too sweet in that top first round.
Zero2Cool (8h) : *** holy shit *** Andrew Luck has informed the Colts he is retiring from the NFL, per source
Zero2Cool (8h) : Whatever team he signs with, only 1 year deal. So Texans have no leverage at all.
KRK (9h) : no us
Cheesey (9h) : Any idea as to who will they trade him too?
Zero2Cool (10h) : The #Texans will trade LB/DE Jadeveon Clowney in the next 24/48 hours, according to @mlombardiNFL
Zero2Cool (13h) : RB Darrin Hall has been released.
beast (14h) : Before getting to the PS, they must first past waivers and want to resign as a PS player, I'm not sure Kizer would do both...
gbguy20 (16h) : its a trap?
Zero2Cool (16h) : Got me again!
Cheesey (24-Aug) : No, sorry. I should have said it’s my opinion. Again, sorry
Zero2Cool (24-Aug) : They made cuts already??
Cheesey (24-Aug) : Looks like Kizer ends up on the practice squad. Boyle has outplayed him.
buckeyepackfan (24-Aug) : Boyle 3 games. 113 qbr. He has jumped Kizot
Cheesey (24-Aug) : Kizer looked really bad. Boyle started out bad, then looked really good.
wpr (23-Aug) : Maybe Zero can give yo his email address.
wpr (23-Aug) : buckeye, Smokey is in a time out. It lasts until mid Nov.
KRK (23-Aug) : ty...Qualitatively, was he playing with a lot of the same guys? I.e. was the protection crappy or OK? Same receivers?
Zero2Cool (23-Aug) : Terrible. Boyle is leading for backup I think.
KRK (23-Aug) : Did any of you guys watch the second half? If so, I’m assuming Kizer was quarterback… howd he Look?
gbguy20 (23-Aug) : pretty sure once i completely cleares my browser and whatever is what fixed it

Zero2Cool (23-Aug) : So much crying an whining.
gbguy20 (23-Aug) : what a disaster
buckeyepackfan (23-Aug) : EQ probably starts the season on IR. Didn't look good.

Zero2Cool (22-Aug) : Brewers spanked those cheating Cardinals.
Zero2Cool (21-Aug) : chump* (damn auto-correct)
Zero2Cool (21-Aug) : im the champ
Cheesey (21-Aug) : It beats not keeping score and giving everyone a “participation trophy”.
Cheesey (21-Aug) : Wow...spell check? LIFE lesson!
Cheesey (21-Aug) : It is sad when they lose. But it’s a Lyceum lesson. You can’t always be the champ.
KRK (21-Aug) : These kids really strive to get the fundamentals right. It’s fun to watch. But it’s so sad when they lose and get eliminated
wpr (21-Aug) : you don't see that dp too often
Nonstopdrivel (21-Aug) : On Thursday, I was watching a LLWS game and witnessed a 5-3-6 double play. It was pretty impressive.
Nonstopdrivel (19-Aug) : It's not everyday a team scores 8 points in a baseball game—and gets its ass kicked. ⚾
Zero2Cool (19-Aug) : Wisconsin reinstates expelled wide receiver Cephus following acquittal on sexual assault charge.
Zero2Cool (19-Aug) : Rodgers put a pretty nice instagram about Benson. Benson made him think. That's impressive.
