Our two best CBs were injured. Badly. One missed 6 weeks, the other was playing on a broken toe, which no doubt limited him.

Our pro-bowl Safety (Collins) was playing with pain in his back and left leg, enough to hamper his play (late getting to his spots).

Our starting LB (Hawk) had chest and groin issues for first half of the season for sure. His play suggests that he may have played with injuries that weren't disclosed. Another starting LB (Chillar) had biceps and groin injuries. Ryan Pickett was playing with an elbow injury that limited how much he could bend his arm. Jolly has been playing with a sprained knee.


A couple of weeks ago, the Packers listed something like 18 players on their injury report. By far the most of any team this season.

Greg Bedard of the JSOnline noted as the Bears' game approached that this team was visibly different in practice having so many players practicing. He noted how most of the season until then it was the back-ups getting the reps with the first team, which produced lower quality of practices than the practices leading up to the trashing of the Bears.


A much more useful retort slaket would've been that the Pats were 11-5 with 14 players on the Injured Reserve. At least provide some stats of the average number of players on IR each team has before completely dismissing the claim that the Packers suffered because of their injuries.

The only place I'll agree that we didn't have acceptable depth was at DE. If you want to fault Ted Thompson for that, fine. But you could just as easily argue that KGB, Thompson, and Montgomery were sufficient depth and that KGB's rapid decline and Thompson's injury problems were no fault of TT.

Tramon proved we had plenty of CB depth to step in for Al. Rouse for Atari. Bishop for Nick. OL flexibility to maneuver through the nicks they had all year.

Only in NY Yankeeland where you can buy 5 starting caliber OFers can you say this team didn't have proper depth.

Some of you people are starting to annoy me to a point beyond rationality.

There are only so many players you can have at any given position. There are only 53 slots on the active roster. That's an average of 1.2 players per position on the field. If you go deep at one position, you MUST sacrifice depth at another.

Give a little thought before you post senseless rants, or you'll come across as the latest in the long line of irrational, foaming-at-the-mouth Thompson bashers.

slaket, you still refuse to state the point that'd help you the most: the Pats had 14 players on IR, yet finished 11-5. They did it without their best playmaker (arguably) to boot.

Oh yeah, we're closer to a few million (around 3 if I'm not mistaken) since Aaron Rodgers contract counted for 20 million of cap space in the 08-09 season.

It never occurs to these people that Ted Thompson deliberately saved some of that cap room so that he could reward Rodgers with a hefty front-loaded contract this season, which would minimize his cap hit in later years and freeing us up to sign more of our free agents next season.
