I actually agree with Greg C. I think Silverstein asked some excellent questions. They are exactly what the fans want to hear.

We were 6-10 last year. Why? I want some explanations. Was it because of A? No? OK, well, was it because of B? No? OK, well, was it because of C?
Ted Thompson better be prepared for these because these questions are the questions the fans want. 6-10 is NOT acceptable when you're used to winning.

Q. What do you think his strength is?

A. I don't know.

What's that supposed to mean? If you asked me what Mike McCarthy 's strengths are, I'd tell you exactly what I thought they were. At worst, at least give Mike McCarthy some credit for putting up points. If you asked what his weaknesses are, I'd tell you that his adjustments have been bad, which is weird because in '07, he was the Master at making adjustments.

That's not showing confidence in the man you hired to lead your team.

See, that's not showing lack of confidence in Ted's view. That's something I can not stand about the guy. Why did you cut so and so? I don't know. One of the things I can't stand about the guy is exactly one of the attributes that make him a good GM. NO one ever knows what the hell he's going to do because all he ever really says, I don't know when asked questions. Hell, it's probably why he's single too. Chick offers to buy him a beer and he says "I don't know".

Irritates the crap out of me. Some things I can understand keeping close to your vest, but certain things you can elaborate on just a little. Trucking pisses me off like you wouldn't believe!!!

It's entirely possible, LT. Though most people don't realize it, when guests appear on radio or television talk shows, the questions the hosts ask are typically scripted by the guests' designated PR staff, arriving in press packets before the interview. If the guest is on a talk show tour and you watch their appearances on various shows, you'll notice the questions they're asked from show to show are essentially identical. After all, the last thing a public figure wants is to be confronted with a potentially embarrassing question for which he's not prepared. So when the host attempts to slyly slip in a question for which the guest has no scripted answer, smart guests simply evade it.

Often when the host says something like, "My favorite part of the book was . . ." -- that's all scripted too. More often than not, the host has never seen the book they're discussing, much less actually read it. The choice of guests is in the hands of the producers, just as the topical analysis is in the hands of staff researchers and writers. All the "talents" do is literally read the TelePrompter, most of the time never having seen the script before they go on air, which is why when there are technical problems, they instantly go to break. They want to ensure the audience never sees the "talents" fumbling for words and showing their utter ignorance of the topic at hand.

Contrary to the image spun by the networks for which they work, on-air "talents" are rarely trained journalists in any sense of the word, much less subject-matter experts in the fields they are paid to analyze. Most often they are failed actors who have managed to resurrect their careers in the field of journalism (usually through the efforts of savvy agents). They're entertainers, and they act like it, which is why I can't stand the average interview these days. Their main job is to provoke arguments and fights to titillate the baser instincts of their audiences. It's embarrassing.

Very, very, very true.

I don't people realize just how stupid the talking heads are. One of the top reporters, I think it was either Peter Jennings or Tom Brokaw, didn't even know all 50 states. No, I'm not making this up.

They'd be useless without the teleprompters. What scares me is how much the average people are sheep, thinking that these people are "trustworthy." Why? Because they can act? They ain't go no brains.

Actually, usually after the 'I don't know' line, Ted's answers offer some insight.

I still remember a couple of interviews from the 'TT funnies' thread I made a long time ago.

After drafting Aaron Rouse, Ted was asked why Rouse's production seemed to decline in his final year in college.

Ted: "I don't know" and then he gave a couple of plausible reasons why (something like change in D scheme, battling through injuries).

Heck even after drafting Brohm ahead of Henne this year, Ted was asked what led Ted to chose Brohm instead of Henne.

Ted: "I don't know, we think they are both good players" and then Ted rattled off some good reasons (like accuracy, football background, system experience, etc.).

Ted is pretty secretive, but he offers an honest answer, in my opinion, once he gets past the 'I don't know' line.

"I don't know" may be a verbal tic of Thompson's, a sort of "um" by which he buys some time to think.

As far as I'm concerned, though, Thompson doesn't owe any punk reporter answers to questions that reveal his methods or strategies. Why give your opponents gratuitous information they can use to gameplan against you in the draft and free agency?

When I was a kid, the teacher would have a bell. When we'd read aloud and say "um," the teacher would ring the bell. So, you got to stop saying "um." Worked great. Of course, couldn't do it today because of political correctness.

Anyways, maybe when someone interviews Ted Thompson , they should have a bell handy. Every time Ted Thompson says "I don't know," ring the bell. He'll stop saying "I don't know" really fast.

I don't actually mind the 'I don't know' so much.

I actually find it hilarious. Listening to Ted Thompson interviews, hearing a "I don't know" followed by a logical response always seems to make me LOL; I find it funny.

Being in Green Bay, he could get pneumonia. I don't want anything bad to happen to the guy. I just want him to be successful because his success = our success as long as he's Green & Gold.

Mucky Tundra (51m) : End of a Degu-era
dhazer (1h) : Steelers sign Patterson because of new kickoff rule interesting
Zero2Cool (4h) : Former #Packers TE Josiah Deguara is signing a 1-year deal with the Jaguars, per source.
Zero2Cool (5h) : They do not do it for "content sake".
dfosterf (15h) : For the record, I enjoy Beast and Mucky drafts
Zero2Cool (22h) : Haha
Mucky Tundra (23h) : No time for talking! Back to work beast!
beast (23h) : You saw only 4,201 of my mocks? 🥺 I think that means you missed more than half of them 😢
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Does anyone know what Lambeau field improvements got put on hold? My guess would be for the 2025 draft
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : It's like listen, you made 4,201 mocks, no shit.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Cuz during the draft "I had them mocked there!" as if it's amazing.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : They're fun to do once in awhile. It's people who think they are "content" that annoy me.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Against tbd
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Answer to your question is yes, it's a Thursday, will be the Chiefs aga
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Luckily for all concerned, I don't post them. I did one, but that was like 25 mocks ago
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : NFL 2024 gonna start Sept 5th isn't it???
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Ugh... kids these days!
dfosterf (27-Mar) : I'm gonna go do some more mock draft hell instead 🤪
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Did we do one of those prediction threads yet for 2024 season?
dfosterf (27-Mar) : In my city, they are playing the nimby game, in order to keep some railroad tracks vs. 2 professional sports teams and a concert venue.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : And/Or a city council, of which I haven't seen a good one in a very long time
dfosterf (27-Mar) : That sounds like a Mayor, not a city.
buckeyepackfan (26-Mar) : Packers halt scheduled 80mil upgrade of stadium until lease agreement talks are restarted
Zero2Cool (26-Mar) : City of Green Bay puts Packers' Lambeau Field lease talks on hold
buckeyepackfan (26-Mar) : Packers 1 of 3 teams to vote no on new kickoff rule.
Zero2Cool (26-Mar) : Packers sign another Kicker

dfosterf (26-Mar) : Good for you!
Zero2Cool (26-Mar) : Yes. That's the one.
dfosterf (26-Mar) : Is that "Lady Dugan" per chance?
dfosterf (26-Mar) : Crystal?
dfosterf (26-Mar) : Please refresh my memory

Mucky Tundra (26-Mar) : BAH GAWD! THAT'S CHEESEYS MUSIC!
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Gutekunst said early stages of Jordan Love contract being discussed.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Shouldn't be penalized cuz official screwed up
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Yeah, challenge until you are incorrect twice.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
beast (25-Mar) : Simply fined in the week to follow
beast (25-Mar) : I agree with one NFL official, it'll probably be like some of the helmets hits, not really called by the refs on the field but simply fined
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Hip drop is not. Super confusing. Referees job is harder
