Awesome... Brinkley.. not some much. :)

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/44178127.html

* Best story I got from today came from Johnson about Clay Matthews:

The two went head-to-head on the first day of practices at the Senior Bowl, and it was memorable.

"As far as the collision, it was just a standstill. We both just stopped," Johnson said. "That guy is strong. Definitely. Most everybody that I hit, I can knock them back. But not that guy. It was pretty serious."

Johnson said through all his practice time against NFL-caliber players at LSU and in games against SEC competition, there has been only one other guy that stood him up: South Carolina linebacker Jasper Brinkley, who was a fifth-round pick this year of the Minnesota Vikings.

"He was the only other guy I hit and didn't move," Johnson said.

There was one more thing Johnson remembered from his collision with Matthews.

"I had a vicious headache for the rest of the day," Johnson said. "Like I said, the guy is strong. He doesn't give ground."

Packers agree to terms with Matthews
By Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel
July 30, 2009 11:54 a.m.
Green Bay The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms with first-round draft choice Clay Matthews on a new contract.
According to an NFL source with knowledge of the deal, the base portion of the five-year deal is worth $10 million and there will be an opportunity for him to earn $13.275 million overall.
Matthews is the second of the Packers two first-round draft choices. The linebacker from USC was the 26th pick overall and is expected to compete for a starting job as a rush linebacker.
The Packers now have seven of their eight draft picks in the fold. The only player who remains unsigned is Boston College nose tackle B.J. Raji, the ninth pick overall.

I can't wait until T-jack's head explodes when he plays against Dom's blitz from anywhere defense.

Bring the pain boys, bring the pain.

Anyway, looks like a contract with a lot of incentives. I love that. We're just paying him 2 million per year standard. That's a very unrealistic expectation with some easy bonusses in there (I asume), but it allows us to have him on our roster even as a bust or if he'll have a Harrell-like career.

Might be nothing new, but I just love these contracts.

I generally have an optimistic attitude regarding USC players going pro.

Good news because having the same agent Mathews pretty much had to get done now so they can get Raji in before he loses any time.

dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.

beast (5-Apr) : Probably not going to let Diggs walk away unless he's horrible... but according to reports he also might not be as good as he used to be.
beast (5-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft has been an offensive player since 2017, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC
Mucky Tundra (5-Apr) : Odd, why give up a 2025 2nd Rounder for him if you're just gonna let him walk?
