You hit something on the head if it's true i have no clue but you said the first goal was signing Jennings, but that didn't work. So if the season starts without him signed do you think he would sign in the middle of the season. I was just thinking if he could become a FA maybe the thought of playing in Detroit could be on his mind.

Damn that would be scary Jennings and Johnson and Pettigrew with Stafford throwing the ball for alot of years to come.

I thought we discussed this last week, unless the CBA gets done before the end of the 09 season.. Jennings won't be a UFA next season.. and I can sure and the hell say with conviction that he will be tagged as insurance.

Jennings seems a man of great faith and of his word... why mistrust that?

It's almost funny. We have Rodger's signed and accounted for cap-wise and still have 29.5 mil in available cap room.

Yet we signed him too early. No matter the many millions of bucks his cap hit went down this year...down, not up...no matter the dramatic increases in the costs of a QB, especially when putting up those kinds of #'s.

No matter that Rodger's base salary is under 680k, with the huge majority of the remainder being incentive based ...he has to earn it folks...

None of this matters. It was a bad move.

Sure.

You win this one. I mean really, how in the hell can we pay a base to Rodgers that is almost 16% of Chad Clifton's base?

What is the MATTER with Ted?

First, Hazer likes to take an unpopular stance and stick with it. This bit with Jennings is his latest pet, but I don't think his slant is mistrust in Jennings. His slant is that somehow Thomson will screw things up and we'll lose Jennings.

Needless to say, I disagree - not the least because, as you continually point out (and he continually ignores), absent a new CBA, Jennings won't be free to leave Green Bay.

IMO, the extension will get done quietly sometime before the season starts. If I'm wrong then so be it, but I trust that Jennings is a good man and I don't think Thompson's dumb enough to let him get away.

In my heart of hearts, honestly, I feel like Im going to be a Green Bay Packer for my career, said Jennings, who will return to his native Michigan after the birth but plans to be back in time for organized team activities in May.

Thats me. And I dont want to say (the Packers) feel the same way and then they do something different, but Im pretty sure they feel the same way. So, I should be here.

Thanks guys your getting my hopes up now ๐Ÿ™‚

Packz I think it will get done because it would hurt the NFL. If it gets done then i really don't see Jennings sign the extension why would he take less money. Ted Thompson has already proven he won't spend the huge money.

Like everyone of the Ted Thompson backers have said. We got Rodgers for cheap so i'm going by what they say. I was against giving him that kind of money until he proved he could play and i don't mean 8 games, hell i wouldn't have even signed him at the end of the year. Maybe i would of tried to sign him during this year if he could play at the same level.

I have always been against signing a guy to a huge contract after one good year.

Grants contract was incentive based and we over paid for that also. Another one year wonder.

How do you figure this when he went from 956 yds in '07 to over 1200 in '08. That's right at 2300 yards over TWO years so where does "one year wonder" pop up?

You would do yourself a service by picking your battle grounds and sticking to them. One thread it's "Tightwad Ted" who won't pay to bring in players and the next it's "loose wallet" Ted for siging a Grant and then it's "Too Conservative Ted" but then you complain he signed Arod way to early. You change positions more than me and my first girlfriend.

When you do get around to a legitimate arguement it's hard to recognize for all the bullcrap you sling out here in between. Of course, then again, when your mission is to try and show that Ted Thompson can do absolutely nothing right regardless of what the topic is I guess you have to do some pretty serious reaching, huh?

Good luck with that though. Geesh.

I have to say, his 1200 yards was the least impressive 1200 I can remember. His 07' was nice because he blew out some big plays. If he returns to 07' form, I will be happy. At least his contract was incentive based, and I am glad he did not reach his next escalator.
