Talk to me about these reports that you're not at OTA's because you're trying to get a new deal. What's your situation?

"Well I am at off-season camp, so let's get that straight. My ankle's doing good. I'm out there on my own on the side doing my little drills, running around... just you know, taking it easy and making sure we go into the season healthy."

So just to be clear, you're there working and there's no problems with your deal or anything like that?

"Naw, I think you've got the wrong guy."

Well I've got a story right in front of me from five different sources that says, 'Atari Bigly is a no show at the teams' off-season workouts and the reason that was given was his ankle, but his agent says his ankle is fine, is he bucking for a new contract?'

"Wow, I've been here every day. I've been hear every day since March, I don't know where they're hearing that from but I've been in practice."

So how are things with the ankle, is it feeling alright?

"Well the ankle is good now. I can't say it's a hundred percent because I haven't played a game, I haven't done any cutting competitively. I've been sprinting, jumping and hopping around, but it was a tough injury when I got hurt last season and I don't think everybody got the full understanding of how bad it really was. But the guy you saw in '08, that wasn't the Atari Bigly that we know."

Mike Florio has said several positive things. In fact he agreed that the Packers made the right 'decision' with selecting Rodgers and moving forward with Rodgers.

However, he does not say many positive things. Why? Because turmoil sells, cheery does not. Blame the game, not the player.

As an avid PFT reader i have to say i have never really noticed much bias with florio and freinds(or atleast they will outright admit it when they are). If you read most of the articles on the site, they take issue with virtually *EVERY* aspect of every football team that happens to become public in any way shape or form. They talk trash about anyone and everyone, pretty consistantly. I think the people who think he has some sort of grudge agaisnt the packers only ever read the site when some negative article is linked. If you read the site regularly, you'll see that he is very hard on ANY player whining about contracts, or anything else that could possibly be considered questionable.

The section where most of the articles are posted, after all is called the "rumor mill", if what other purpose for than to stir stuff up? It just so happens that he tends to have a lot more information, a lot quicker than everyone else. Most of his stuff tends to be pretty accurate, and they stand by and admit it when their stories are false, unlike ESPN etc.

The whole Donald Driver thing actually started on JSO first, and Florio picked up the story from there, with virtually the same tone as the original article. So, say what you want about him, but you'll have to say the same about the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, atleast in the case of the driver story, and heck the most of the stuff he has posted about Collins, its just echoed from what was reported by JSO as well.

Of course he adds his own opinion to the site, and for his benifit he tends to take a controversial stance on most things, but you guys should read some of the stuff he posts about other teams, and players. I dont think that the packers should somehow be exempt from this treatment mearly because i am a huge fan of the team, nobody is in the age of instant information, and instant commentary. Its a niche form of media, and you have to of course take it for what it is and with a grain of salt, but i sure enjoy it way more than sitting around, and not knowing anything but what the talking heads mindlessly chatter on about on sports center.

JSO reporting Bigby/Collins mixup.

Keep an eye on this on PFT, i would be really surprised if there is not some sort of retraction, or atleast reference to JSO's story about PFT them being wrong. But even in this case, they were simply reporting someone else's interview/story. Surely you can argue they should have had the brains in the editing department to figure it out, but its not like *they* actually made the screw up and did the interview.

I remember a time when it was illegal to report false news...oh the joys of yesteryear before blogs and all this technology.

It is a case of what Mike complains often about, someone not researching and checking their facts before opening their mouth or placing the pen to paper.. a mistake by the radio station, then a piss poor job by PFTalk of actually researching the subject before putting his lawyer foot directly into his pie hole.

+1 to this. Florio's okay, mostly because he merits decent sources these days. But the man is nowhere near a journalist, and he proves it time and time again with some of the asinine stuff he'll post. He knows all he has to do is hide behind the "hey, I just report the rumors as I hear them" excuse. He's also so in love with his own takes that he can't stop himself from making his "Editor's Comment" on every little thing. Cult of Personality, indeed.

It's decent entertainment, but it sure ain't journalism.

Bedard's a little pissed at Florio. This is hilarious. It's about time one of these jackass reporters got a taste of their own medicine.

Radio program mixes up Collins, Bigby
By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel
May. 30, 2009

In lieu of the Daily Briefing today, wanted to pass along this email I got from a radio program last night:

Packer's Defensive Back Atari Bigby was on The Monty Show on Sporting News Radio today. Among other things he spoke about the rumors that he wasn't at OTA's because he was unhappy with his current deal saying, "I've been here every day since March." Bigby also spoke about the ankle injury that ended his 2008 season saying, "the ankle is good now... the guy you saw in '08 isn't the Atari Bigby that we know."

And here's the transcript they sent along:

Profootballtalk.com ran with the email last night.

Only problem? Bigby's right, they do have the wrong guy. I don't know what article the Full Monty was referring to, but I did a search on Nexis and the internet last night and found no such article. And I don't recall one either.

And what player, even if he is represented by Drew Rosenhaus, would say he's unhappy with a second-round tender as a restricted free agent after said player was injured the entire season and hadn't been cleared yet from post-season ankle surgery?

Obviously the host got Bigby mixed up with Nick Collins. We should call them Nick Bigby.

The only reports on Bigby missing OTAs are this one from PFT, which is off of my story from the first day of practice.

And I reported Bigby attended practice but did not participate as he comes back from ankle surgery.

EDIT: Oh, crap. I see someone posted a link to this article above. Sorry for the redundancy.

Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Stefon Diggs' trade will not be processed as a post-June 1 designation, so that is just over $31 million in dead cap this year.
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 2nd-round pick. (via @rapsheet)
