My guess is the Packers are front loading his contract to use up this years cap room and free up next year cap.

Somehow I doubt this. Next year is slated to be an uncapped year.

Agreed. I'd hope that what might happen is a restructuring in which the Packers negotiate less than the $7M he is set to earn. He's worried about being dumped because he costs too much. So, negotiate less money. You don't get cut = good for Donald. team saves some money = good for the Packers.

as has already been stated, next year is set to be uncapped, so I doubt this is what is happening. We'll see what happens. I feel comfortable in my prediction. He doesn't want to get cut next year because of being overly expensive. One way to do that is to take a pay cut. Most players are loathe to do this, but we all know that many contracts are set up with the final years being nothing but fluffed up numbers, meaning that a 6 year contract with huge money paid out in the final two years is in all actuality a 4 year contract. I think he saw what happened to Marvin Harrison this year and doesn't want that to happen to him next year.

So long as DD is healthy, he has nothing to worry about. 6 mil this year, 7 mil next year. If they cut him after this season, he will catch on somewhere for 3 years @ 5 mil per year at least especially with the uncapped year. The Redskins will own free agency i think next year. Teams better sign their free agents now because Daniel Snyder is watching, and waiting.

Gravedigga, the free agent pool won't be all that big next year. A lot of guys who would have been able to hit the free agent market in a capped year will be prevented from doing so because they will no long be unrestricted free agents. In an uncapped year, the number of years of creditable play required to become an URA goes up to six.

Yea, I just read a lot about it after posting. Some crazy rules. Nothing free about free agency 🙂

beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
