give me a break. last year the 9'ers were a "bad to mediocre" team with a chance to become "good" with new players and Mike Singletary. i've seen enough of the 9'ers this year that i didn't go into this game thinking they were a "great" team but an "ok" team which may be learning. so far they've been not bad, not good but ok. certainly not "great". so to say that we didn't inadvertently throw in the towel at some point is to say that we are also not "great" but merely ok enough to compete. and THAT...THAT i am not fucking content with.

gee, sorry.

San Francisco is a QB away from a playoff contender IMO.

They have a capable enough offensive line, a defensive front seven that is anchored by one of the ten best players in all of football and a pair of young receiving targets that have bright futures. Not to mention, Frank Gore is one of the better backs in the NFC.

Had GB taken San Francisco or disrespected them as much as some apparently are, the Packers would've loss this game.

For the record, GB is an average team trying to get to above average. They're more talented than the 49ers top to bottom, but the QB play is a big reason why.

Twinkie, you have issues. You're always complaining about something or other. What? 64 yard touch down drive? It should have been 69 if it weren't for the false start, wahh wahh.

I fear an ulcer is in your future my friend.

funny. while i complain about valid moments of breakdown within the Packers, you all just love to throw hyperbolic statements at me and complain about me complaining just as much as i complain about the Packers. how awesome.

like, really...i'm glad you're all ok with the Packers barely squeaking by and looking generally sub-par this year. but i'm not and i'm not going to apologize for that. sorry.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I think the problem Twinkie is that you seem unnecessarily bitter and upset. Yesterday the mighty Bengals of Cincinnati lost to the Raiders; the lowly Chiefs upset the Steelers. I think it would behoove the losing teams' fans to treat this not only as an opportunity to piss and moan but to acknowledge that in the NFL it truly is an "any given Sunday" mentality.

I think the arguments against Green Bay this season end up so muddled and disjointed that the only comfortable resting place for everyone seems to be "we need a coaching change!" when in reality the vast majority of our problems can be traced to categorically poor offensive line play (throw in special teams gaffes at the worst possible times and a few other recurring issues). Beyond that, we are what we are: a 6-4 team with an outside chance to make the playoffs. We win on Thanksgiving and we're 7-4. That's who we are.

You are probably one of the more pessimistic doom and gloomers I've seen on here -- and the idea that you defend your comments as legitimate (while MANY are just pissy, expletive-ridden rants AT BEST) is kinda silly.

Just ONCE I'd like someone to ground their sweeping generalizations (like "we fuckin' suck! We're a joke of an NFL team") in some FACTS. We are superfans. Our emotion gets the best of us. So let the dust settle and try to look at it objectively.

In light of the ups and downs that are easily observable from this season (Denver's 6-0 start/0-4 since, the Jets early season collapse, the unexpected rise of the Saints, etc.) I simply refuse to get worked up about not winning by "enough". The fact is we were in a similar situation on Sunday when compared to the Tampa game. The difference? When the game was on the line we got the ball back and ran it down their throats. Sure, it could have been a blow out. But THEN this team wouldn't have the experience of weathering the storm. Ugly win? Yes. But a win! And THAT is what should carry forward.

Be critical. But don't be ridiculous. We're in the hunt.

After what happened in last seasons games I'll gladly take an ugly win. Would have been awesome to win even half those close games last year in ugly fashion.

oh give me a break.

look, in the chat during game day i type out my frustrations so that i'm not shouting, scaring my girlfriend and pets, throwing shit or hitting things. i think it's a better trade off in the end, ok? and no i'm not all about doom and gloom but i AM a realist. i'll be much more likely to sit and talk about our positives if we can cut down on some of what are just too weighty negatives.

To be fair, twinkie just thinks the 49ers are a joke of a football team and expected a lot more from the Packers. Nothing wrong with that. Of course I don't agree. I actually think the 49ers are the fourth best team GB has played all season behind Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Dallas. Plus, they're a very resilient team because of Mike Singletary. He's a great motivator and a work in progress as head coach, but his teams will never quit. Unlike, say the Browns.

I think a point should be made about twinkie's complaints and I think it's something that everyone should be thinking right now. The Packers lack a killer instinct under Mike McCarthy. They struggle to put teams away. I think that's on the coaching, but then again, plenty of teams struggle to do that. At home though, you should be able to put teams away easily if you want to be a Super Bowl contender. GB is just not that good yet IMO, but the Cardinals weren't last year either and neither were the Giants in 07. They just got hot at the right time and for GB, that's really the only way they can do something worth noting this season IMO.

now see...this is what i mean about turning what i actually say into something which is hyperbolic. i don't think they're "a joke". what i think is that they're not good enough to have come as close to beating us as they did. we fell apart. ok? no, it's not just as simple as "they made some good plays." this is a team that barely beat a 5-interception plagued Bears team just one game before us.

the second part of your post i sort of agree with but it really doesn't capture the root of my frustration.

You have an average opinion of the 49ers from what your earlier post says. How you want to intemperate joke of a football team is obviously your opinion. The differences between the teams is not a lot. The example you provide of the 49ers' woes can be used for the Packers as well.

The Packers barely beat the Bears as well with Cutler's dreadful four INTs. In fact, if it wasn't for a mistake by the longsnapper, GB probably doesn't win that game.
