They have that "going for the ball" no-call down pat sometimes though. I believe it was during the Patriots/Dolphins game. A Pats WR ran a quick slant, the Dolphins DB jumped it, and they both collided (side to side) reaching for the ball. The refs usually let this kind of contact go, which is funny, because it would result in about a 5-10 yard penalty, compared to a 40-50 yard penalty on bombs where both players have time to jocky for position.

The problem is when you see that late jostling between WR and DB and it's intercepted they won't call it. The thing is I believe there is basically an unwritten rule that when there is contact between both players as they are going downfield it's a NO CALL. If it's one sided and one player is not making contact then it's another story.

What I saw Monday Night was the officials made a couple of very tight calls against Baltimore. The next time our guy even put his hand out there they felt compelled to call that too. From there it just snow-balled to where you could almost sense they were throwing the flag on ticky tack plays because they had been doing it before.

I don't feel we have some big problem after this game where we are just going to see PI calls against us because of what happened Monday. These were two physical teams with an officiating crew with extra eyeballs in their head. It happens. It would have been a much better game to watch had the crew been one that allowed more contact because there are certainly crews that would have let a whole lot of this go.

I think that if crews are not going to obide by the unspoken rule of letting players make contact once in awhile as long as it's back and forth between the players then they need to call more offensive pass interference because way to often the WR is the one that first makes contact by sticking their arm out.
