If anything, that proves my point even further.

"The last thing I saw" was some editorializing by USA Today from Mike McCarthy's season-ending press conference almost a month and a half ago.

Here is what was actually asked and answered. (Rigorous? I shouldn't doubt it, but it was never said) way back then.

Packers.com news release; Jan 13, 2010

(Where's Justin Harrell at?)
Justin is doing well. He is going to be here full-time. I met with him yesterday. He is close. He is getting close to being fully recovered. It's just like any time you come back from a back injury. There are definitely some targets that he is going to have to hit throughout the off-season, but he is doing very well in the weight room and the rehab part of it. But he is going to be here full-time.

A very good REASON (amongst several) to have a member of the media find out directly from Harrell instead of from Mike McCarthy- One instance stands out as an excellent example.

BTW--- Why doesn't the media know where Justin is or was?

He collected 39,000.00 paychecks from the Packers every week this entire season.

Don't take this as absolute gospel, but this is basically what I recall:
In 2008, Justin was not practicing during training camp. The pre-season loomed. His back was hurt. Mike initially said it was a "week-to-week" thing. "He has a back", but he (Justin) was making "excellent progress". He kept getting asked about it. Mike said it was a "Thursday decision." Thursday came, then it was a "Day to day" thing. The next day he was asked how his progress was. "We expect him on the practice field tomorrow." Outstanding!!! Finally!!! Remember? Tomorrow comes. "Err, umm, we have decided to put Justin on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list."

You remember that? We went from, "Gee, I wonder how Harrell did in practice, and how effective will he be?" to gone for 6 weeks, and nothing had changed whatsoever, even though we were led to believe that the guy was suiting up literally THAT DAY.

If anyone can show me a link (any link) that tells us where Justin Harrell is and what he is doing from Justin Harrell himself-

Within the last MONTH.

I will retract my humor. :thumbleft:

Otherwise, I gotta go with this pic (call it our forum "classic", with several "artistic interpretations" e.g. Dhaze has him holdin' twinkies, one of my personal favorites)and the 'tude / frustration / whatever it represents, even if it is in jest. (Fella from PC originally posted it, I think it was LeroyButler36)

UserPostedImage

Now, don't get me wrong...Justin could be absolutely busting his ass in this picture (or some weight room even as I type this, for that matter)

I'm just not (personally) feelin' it. :tongue3:

This is all still humor (for me, anyway)--

I wish Justin nothing but the best, for his sake and ours.

He looks absolutely anorexic for a DT. Is that the most damning photo evidence of his laziness that's available? Standing, stretching his back or something, and looking like about 305 lbs?

Byline: Justin Harrell Sighting
Date: Today

Sources close to the snakebitten defensive tackle have announced that Justin Harrell is hard at work in a secret location, preparing to prove all the naysayers wrong.

"He's running every other day, working the hills to build up his endurance, and using a tailored set of lifting exercises to strengthen his back. He's been pain free for months now, and hasn't eaten any meat other than chicken breasts since Christmas dinner. People won't recognize him when he reports to the first minicamp in April."

This reporter has to admit he was really skeptical. "I'll believe it when I see it," I think I said.

But then another of my sources close to Harrell told me where the secret location was, a remarkable gym and hostel somewhere in the outskirts of Las Vegas. And when I snuck a peak, I was shocked at how svelte the man working out had become. And he moved with the flexibility of a martial artist, not someone whose back was threatening to knock him out permanently from the game he'd been playing since he could walk.

Problem was, it wasn't Justin Harrell.

I for one, would dearly love for him to return to the roster and contribute, even if it isn't lights out, i'd be happy with AJ Hawk esque plod-along play. As long as he can prove he is able to maintain a place on the roster, i'd be happy.

Every team has a bad draft choice now and again. If damage limitation can be achieved then i'd consider it a victory, not just for the Packers but for us too.

I would love to see Harrell make a comeback as well but what I really want to see is GB in the superbowl next year. I think my latter desire is more probable than the former. My expectations are very low on Harrell. I would not put expectations on the level of AJ Hawk. I would be happy to see Ahmad Carroll-esque play out of Harrell at this point.

I am just happy to hear the reports on him are positive at this point. Where he is at now goes a long ways to improve his chances this coming season.

I hadn't really heard anything at all about him so this is all good from my perspective. If he comes out of the woodwork and makes a contribution it would go a long ways for the defense. The more dynamic those rotations are the better chance that group can contribute more by staying fresh and getting pressure from the inside. I'm all for that.

I mean beyond Pickett, Raji, Jolly, and Jenkins we got nothing out of the others on the interior DL.

What do you mean? You mean Harrell leaving receivers wide open or drawing pass interference penalties? AC was very good at both.

Carroll at least played so we could conclude that he sucks and I think we actually got something for trading him. Harrell has not even given us the luxury of saying if he sucks or not. If we can get a 3rd string punter for him in a trade I would consider the situation a success.

Zero2Cool (6h) : I hope they take a Punter at 9th overall. Be bold!
Mucky Tundra (7h) : I may end up eating those words but I think they need a lot more talent then their 4 picks can provide

Mucky Tundra (23-Apr) : is Aiyuk worth a 1st rounder?
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : 49ers are seeking a 1st round pick in exchange for WR Brandon Aiyuk
Mucky Tundra (22-Apr) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Zach Wilson to Broncos.
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Gutekunst says he'd love to have 13 or 14 picks. He's trading back huh lol
beast (22-Apr) : Someday we'll have a draft betting scandal
beast (21-Apr) : Sometimes looking extremely amazing, sometimes looking extremely lost
beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
