Want a late round to UDFA sleeper... kid is blazing fast... reported 40's as low as 4.20 to 4.3...

Raw in routes and hands.. but maybe worth a late round burn...

WR Kelton Tindal Newberry 6' 197 lbs..

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=102921&draftyear=2010&genpos=WR

02/08/10 - Texas vs. Nation Game Review: Former LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux (Jacksonville State) made the best throw of the day, loading up and throwing for 67 yards to Newberry's Kelton Tindal, who can run like no one else - he's expected to run his 40-yard dash in the 4.2's at his pro day. Although Tindal didn't score, he made a nice adjustment to the ball in the air after using his elite separation speed, overcoming an up-and-down week of practices in terms of catching the ball. If he runs the blazing time most expect, look for Raiders' owner Al Davis to grab Tindal late in the draft.

02/03/10 - Texas vs. the Nation, Tuesday: Mississippi tight end Gerald Harris and Newberry wide receiver Kelton Tindal had poor practices. Tindal's speed is legendary in scouting circles - he is expected to run the 40 in less than 4.3 seconds in upcoming workouts. His burst is remarkable and allows for easy separation from cornerbacks. However, he is extremely raw running routes - consistently losing his balance - and has been erratic catching the ball. Despite those issues, a team might be willing to take a chance on him and spend a late-round pick with the hope of improvement.

Mike Johnson   OG/OT Alabama in the 4th.

Crappy combine. It is possible, no one seems to be talking about him at all.

123 as of this posting on the above big board.

If he was there at 122, he would be an absolute steal, imo, and would start to make up for the whole Meredith over Robinson thing from last year... :pottytrain2:

Look at the company he keeps  for just one of the awards he garnered in college...

Seniors Russell Okung (Oklahoma State), Mike Iupati (Idaho), Mike Johnson (Alabama) and Trent Williams (Oklahoma) comprise the offensive interior, while senior Maurkice Pouncey (Florida) is the offensive center.

If he was there in the 4th, you gotta call that a sleeper pick, when you take into consideration just how many NCAA-type people love him.

Wadewood if selected there. :thumbleft:

I had Mike Johnson as a 2nd to 3rd rounder until Mike Mayock dissed him and he had a bad combine.

But there's always a lot of worth in what Mayock is saying, he's extremely smart, so maybe there's something that he doesn't do well enough to play at a pro level?

He has a sprained shoulder.

That's why you don't see any bench on him at the combine, and you got to figure that this type of injury will slow you down and restrict you in all of those drills. He did go ahead and bench at his pro day... I think 21.

I think that injury is under-appreciated. It is an opinion, but something to note, especially in the context of him available in the 4th round to us. This would be an awesome and reasonably likely "slip"... hence, "sleeper" designation.

Go back to my initial post and click his name. When you get to the link, click on the "newswire" link. This young man has quite the pedigree.

The biggest offensive losses are All-American left guard Mike Johnson and tight end Colin Peek.

That would be on Alabama---friendly reminder---This kid was the "anchor" of THE National Champions  (read "not Hillsdale", for example, lol)

That says pretty good guard potential as a 4th, to me.

he plays OL. That makes him hot if he has no shoulders and a peg leg. 🙂

I usually put together a list of players I think the Pack will look at. I'll do so before the draft, but I can't resist this thread :)

I like Mike Kafka from Northwestern. Prototype size. The arm strength is certainly good enough. Athletic. Needs to adjust to a pro offense and work on ball placement, but I think he could be a developmental QB the Packers look at in the 5th or 6th round. He'd be my sleeper QB this year. Everyone has one.

If you're looking for offensive lineman. T.J. Lang might end up being a guard for the Packers. If that's the plan, Kyle Calloway is a guy to watch. I think he's 3rd round pick. Coached by Kirk Ferentz so you know the technique is strong. Great size and a strong run blocker.

I also like Myron Lewis. Big and fast for a corner. We know Ted Thompson is close with Ron Wolf. We know Wolf's philosophy on corners. Lewis could be a potential safety as well, but he has all the tools. Needs coaching and working with a Charles Woodson could help him. I also like A.J. Jefferson, Chris Hawkins and Larry Asante.

If you want to think receiver, Taylor Price of Ohio reminds me of a faster James Jones.

My own favorite sleeper.

Keith Buckman, Offensive Tackle, North Dakota State

All-MVC First-teamer. Obviously not from a big conference. I don't think he missed a start in his entire college career. Hard to find footage of him play. But I like the guy for some reason. There's a big chance he doesn't get drafted, but if he's there in the 6th or 7th round, I'd love to see the Packers give him a chance.
