I just listened to the entire interview. It occurred to me that Rodgers has the perfect personality to be Brett Favre's successor. He's cocky, but he's funny enough to get away with it. He's a very confident guy. There are very few guys who can succeed a legend (Steve Young is the only other QB I can think of who was up to the task), but we're lucky enough to have one.

He did say something positive about Jaworski later in the interview. He mentioned that Jaworski and Gruden both do a lot of preparation. He said positive things about a lot of other guys as well. This wasn't just a bitch session, by any means.

Interesting that he thinks Tom Brady is easily the best QB in the game, and also that Peyton Manning was the fifth guy he mentioned as part of his top five, after Romo even. He said that he put them in no particular order after Brady, but it sure sounded like he did (the others were Brees and Rivers).

Agreed on the succession part. Brady has slipped. I know I'm a minority here, but I'd put Brady as the top QB of the 00s. Today, I'd rank them Brees first, Rodgers and Favre tied for 2nd, then Manning. Brady of today is not Brady of 2007. Brees should have won the MVP last year and the SB proved it. Favre had a better year than Manning and if Rodgers had an OL last year, he might have even beaten out Brees. Tough call, but like I said in the fantasy thread, if you're playing straight up fantasy, pick Rodgers first.

Romo? WTF? Who keeps picking Romo? He's like a split personality. He's either brilliant or a bumbling buffoon. There is no middle ground with him and it's always the latter in important games.

I was in SF when Young succeeded Montana. He didn't win over everyone until '94 when they won a SB. I already love Rodgers, but there are still Packer fans who haven't been won over. A SB win will win them over, guaranteed.

I think he put Romo in there only because Homer and him were going back and forth about past comparisons with Tony. Rodgers was upset Homer said Romo was way better than him. Homer tried to revise what he said and put Rodgers on the hot seat a little. Imo if Rodgers had to give his real top 5 and wouldn't be lambasted for it I doubt Romo makes it.

Rodgers Regrets Airing Criticism of Announcers

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he regrets airing his complaints about ESPN's ''Monday Night Football'' broadcast team in a recent radio interview.

Speaking with ESPN Milwaukee 540 AM this week, Rodgers sharply criticized former Monday night broadcaster Tony Kornheiser, saying he did ''absolutely no research'' and doubts that he knows ''anything about sports.'' He also threw a barb at current analyst Ron Jaworski, calling the ex-QB's past opinions of Rodgers' fundamentals perhaps the worst segment ''in the history of TV.''

Rodgers now says the radio was an ''inappropriate'' outlet for his thoughts and that he didn't mean to disrespect anybody -- although he didn't necessarily back away from the substance of his criticisms.

ESPN officials declined comment through a spokesman.

I think so too. I was curious about Rodgers when I heard Mike McCarthy talking about being in the paper for the wrong reason. I thought, wonder if he means Rodgers as well?

The issue I have with the Rodgers comments is people are twisting things up a little. He gave what he 'thought' and his 'opinion' on things. He didn't say Tony knew nothing about sports, Aaron "I dont think hes funny. I dont think hes insightful. I dont think knows anything about sports.". He gave his thought, not what he felt was factual.

The Fleischer types got hold of him.

Damn.

When he was asked about the top QBs, he made no mention of the unmentionable one, who, at least statistically, had a good year (hurts to say!). Maybe he doesn't belong in a top 5 discussion anyway, but I'm a little surprised his name wasn't alluded to, even if in jest, by Aaron Rodgers or Homer

Also, I'm on the boat of people who thought Aaron Rodgers came off a little arrogant. Granted, Greg C. made a great point that a chip on the shoulder is good, especially being a successor, and don't get me wrong, I love A.R., but there was an excessive touch of arrogance.

Listen to the interview again, musccy. Try to pick up the quieter comments from Rodgers and others. He's more or less trying to have a good time and fun with it.

Anyone who thinks Rodgers is being arrogant is clearly not understanding the context of this interview. You have to take the shtick of the show into consideration. Stop taking his words so literally.

Well, I think he is being a little arrogant, but I make it clear I think there's nothing wrong with arrogance if it's:
1) in self-defense,
2) you can back it up

People can dislike Rodgers all they want, but you cannot argue against his statistics. Over the past 2 years, he has been the #1 fantasy QB and last year, that was with 50 sacks and still put up those numbers.

So to me, he has every right to snap back and say "told you so."
