Isn't Tramon Williams scheduled to make 3 million this year? That's playing hardball with someone who has not been a starter for a full season and is our 3rd CB? How is that hardball?

Thank you.

He has NO leverage. The only leverage he would have is if there was another team willing to offer him more than the packers.

And if this pisses him off, fine. He can be pissed off all he wants. If he let's it affect his play in a negative way, it hurts him more than it does the Packers. If no one else is offering a better deal, then he needs to sign his "measly" $3 million dollar contract and shut the hell up.

The point was simply this.. it would have been a bad move if the Packers would have dropped the tender by jeopardizing the relationship with the Packers.

3 Million is not petty cash.. it is a decent salary.

Now IF I was Tramon.. I would want a secured deal for more than one year.. and my only leverage would be to not ink the tender.. trying to secure that deal.

All mute now with him having signed his tender.. apparently he is comfortable with playing on a year only deal.. but one couldn't blame him if he wanted a longer deal.

I hope that IF he was unhappy with a one year tender, his signing is at least a good faith move toward getting a long term deal done.

Looks like the reporter jumped the gun on this one. I'm sorry, but the Packers extended Grant because he was a vital asset to the team's run to the NFC title game. Williams is a work in progress. He has potential and maybe should get an extension, but not because Grant got one. If he wants to sit out, let him sit out. Not to mention, the Packers were kind in a PR nightmare at the time they did Grant's deal.

Bedard's article ignores the fact that Grant is the team's starting running back while Williams is a second string CB. That's a pretty big fact to ignore. And $3 million is not bad for a second string player. If Grant didn't get a deal when he did, I think he was only going to make half a million or something.

Maybe I am missing something.. but Harris won't be ready at the beginning of the season.. or I should say a high probability.. Harris is working his ass off so anything is possible.

But does that not make Williams a vital part of this team.. we seen the options late last season.. guys that we letting guys open in less than 2 beats.

IMO.. beyond shoring up the communication issue.. Williams and Lee, Blackmon or Underwood stepping up their play might be some of the most important keys to a deeper run in 2010.

Yes.. becoming a lights out pressure D would help considerably as well.. lol.. the LT Giant days.. lol.

Just another dumbshit attempt by Greg Bedard to paint things in a negative light and blame TT.

Nothing to see here people, move along.

Grant is a 1000 yard / season rusher thus far. 4 years at 20 million is very reasonable for both parties if you ask me.
