That's actually an excellent question. "Moron" used to be a standard, technical psychological term. Now it's derogatory, almost slang. So can one be changed with slander for applying a pejorative slang epithet to another? Maybe Wade can enlighten us here.

Imbecile - someone with an IQ of 31-50
Moron - someone with an IQ of 51-70

Retarded - someone with an IQ of 70 or below

Average - 91-110 IQ

Upper 2 % - someone with an IQ of 136 or higher
Genius - someone with an IQ of 140 or higher

There was a technical term for "Exceptional" but I forgot what it was.

Nah, I'm in pro-IQ camp but with an asterisk. IQ measure cognitive intelligence. For example, you're not going to get someone with a 95 IQ to be a good java programmer. (So much for the "you could be anything you want to be crowd").

But that's it. It doesn't measure emotional intelligence. It doesn't measure social skills. It doesn't measure hygiene (of which, a lot of geniuses deserve the negative stereotype).

There's also no guarantee of accounting ability with higher intelligence as a lot of self-made millionaires got rich because they took their financial accounting seriously and not because they were intelligent.

Also importantly, a lot of smart guys are terrible with women. They overthink to the point that they cripple themselves. Meanwhile, Mr. Average IQ is getting laid with hotties.

Back to Nonstop's question, yes, it is slander. I'll bet my next paycheck that Finley has an IQ above 70. But will Finley pursue it? Doubt it. If he does pursue it, will it be laughed out of court? Probably.

Chmura's comment of "being a moron" is moronic. It is magnified because of his age and position as a commentator. Finley's reaction, although not classy, is somewhat indicative of most twenty three olds.

1. Truth is always a defense.

2. If you have enough money you can hire a psychology expert to say anything on the stand.

3. Suing for slander only makes sense if you can prove damages. Unlikely. Sounds like a case made for the $1 damage award and make each side pay their own costs for ... er, being morons.

(IMO #3 means that suing in such a case is presumptive illustration of #1).

Complete moron- A moron that has absolutely no clue that they are in fact a moron.

Generic moron- A moron that is somewhat concerned about their moron status. They do in fact have an "inkling" that they just might be a moron.
These are people I trust in life. The complete morons, the dangerous people... I fear... Unfortunately, they seem to be in charge of things like politics, my wife's perspectives, and just about everything else...

I still think Jermichael Finley is the funniest Packer on the roster. I can only imagine the kind of **** he pulls in the locker room.
