Favre not returning to Vikings?

By Mark J. Miller

[img_r]http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_rumors__47/ept_sports_rumors-647757521-1272025419_thumb.jpg?ymLVyBDDvIZPHqoY[/img_r]Everybody seems to figure Brett Favre(notes) will be back next season with the Minnesota Vikings, but now some doubt is being thrown over that scenario, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The paper reports that NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci, who also was the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers when Favre started his career there, recently said that he had talked to Favre and the quarterback is still on the fence on whether he'll come back or not.

And this isn't a case of Favre figuring out if he wants all the bother of playing pro ball or not. The ankle he hurt during the NFC title game loss against the New Orleans Saints is still bugging him.

"He doesn't know yet," Mariucci apparently said. "He's trying to heal up. ... His body is recovered except for that ankle. That's not quite ready yet. It's an ankle that he had surgery on twice before and it's still pretty puffy."
Mariucci said Favre is wondering if his 40-year-old body is telling him something.

The Vikings have the second pick in the second round today that was obtained in a trade with the Detroit Lions. Should be interesting to see if the team goes after a quarterback to add to Tarvaris Jackson(notes) and Sage Rosenfels(notes).

I think when there's enough will and aggression, there's no shortage of talent either.

Even if he comes out now and says he retires, it's still not 100%. He could come back during the pre-season again.

I still don't much care. If he does, good for the Vikings and him. If he doesn't, good for him and the Vikings.

Either way, the Packers will win the Super Bowl this season.

The Pepsi appreciates the gesture.

What is a F.I.B. ? I'm in Oregon and hear Packers fans use that a lot on this board, I thought it refers to chicago folk?

Fucking Illinois Bastards/Bitches

Fucking Ignorant Bastards/Bitches

Fill-In Boyfriend

Illinoisans sometimes use FIBs to refer to Wisconsinites as Fat Idle Bastards.

I guess that would make me a F.O.B. then even though I'm really not that big of a bastard. :thumbright: Thanks for the insight drivel.

It's kind of funny out hear on the east coast whenever I meet someone from Chicago and find out I'm from WI., they think their cute with a cheesehead crack. Then just say somthing about them being a F.I.B. and they flip out, it works good because alot of the other people don't know about F.I.B.s until they see the F.I.B. flip out, thus the cheeshead jokes are at a minimum and the focus gets turned on the F.I.B.

Funny story about FIBs.. My best friend and I used to make fun of FIBs all the time during our high school and years following. Now days? He's married to one and they have a daughter together.

I still get her riled up by saying FIB (we've always pronounced it versus saying the letters) every time I visit.
