His knee is still bothering him when he runs and when breaking right. He had a noticable limp after practice and is being held out of the scrimmage today.
The good news is it looks like no surgery. Maybe with some rest he can get back to normal before we get too deep into the season. Sweet DGB! Glad to hear it's not as bad as thought! Hopefully they can figure out whats wrong, and get him back to 100%! :thumbright: |

Ok. Last installment I think. Turns out he torqued (not sure what else to call it.) his knee joint probably doing squats. He has 4 weeks of physical therapy with a sports therapist. That word always reminds me of The Rapist.
He played on Thursday for their first game of the season. It was on Thursday because of the Labor day weekend. He didn't start but went in just before half time as the nose tackle. The guy that was in before him was getting mauled by the 300 lb. center. His first 2 plays he got beat by the center then things started clicking for him. He started doing the swim move and beat him every time after that except when they double teamed him. He was in the back field the rest of the night flushing the QB out of the pocket and forcing the runners to the outside. He recorded 1 sack, 6 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. One of rhe ff's we recovered on the 5 yard line then took in in for a TD the next play. He didn't run the ball due to the knee problem but he did play full back the rest of the game and did some good blocking. One key block lead to the winning TD. He pulled himself out in last half of the 4th because his knee was hurting. All in all not a bad half.
Hopefully next week he will feel good enough to start as nose tackle and full back. So far so good.

Well the regular season is over. We won our division with an 8-1 record.
Last night was our last regular season game and we were going against another 7-1 team. Final score was 20-15. My son as nose guard got 2 tipped balls 4 tackles and 1 sack. I'm not sure how many times he was chasing the QB around the backfield but it accounted for 1 intentional grounding penality. We held them to 5 first downs the whole game.
He carried the ball only 4 times for a total of 22 yards. He is averaging 5.5 yards per carry for the season. He has lead the team in tackles in 2 of the regulasr season games. He has 5 sacks this season. All in all not a bad year so far that started out looking like it was going to be bad.
I'm going to wait till the end of the season to put together film of the season and put it up on Youtube.
On to the playoffs. Good times!
Later DGB454

Yes, 4PackGirl...Gotta love HS football.
True Cheesey, Was bad and now good. I hope we win it all too. It will be very tough but at least took the first step and won our division.
Just found out 3 days ago my new boss is the father of a rivals QB. I didn't want to bring up my son sacked his son 2 times when we faced them. Not a good career move.

What you SHOULD have done is this: After the game was over, walk up to your boss and say "My son sacked your son twice. He could have got him 5 more times, but i told my boy to go easy on him." LOLOLOL!!!! |

Fortunatly we faced his sons team earlier in the season before he was my boss. I don't think he remembers that my son sacked his. His sons team has lost every game but 1 this season so I'm guessing he has been sacked a number of times.
Maybe I'll revisit this thread next season for ideas on what to do or say when we face them again. I hope I hit the lottery between now and then.
