In 2009 we had 4,203,379 page "hits" and in 2010 we dropped down to 2,591,604.

PH is becoming the suck.

Just 2.5 million? I'd get the site out of the air.

I know, working on it.

2010 - 2,591,604
per month 215,967
per day 7,100

2009 - 4,203,379
per month 350,281
per day 11,516

I was thinking how this drop happened. I did have the site register only for a great portion of the year. I opened it back up just a few months ago. Meaning, you had to be logged in to view any content. I also killed off a lot of bots trying to increase page load times. I'm guessing the bots must have contributed a lot to that 1.6 million page "hits".

Might be.

And the Burt Farv dust might finally be settling down a bit. I know that a lot of people here had accounts to discuss him in just about every thread. That certainly died down this season.

Speaking wholly unscientifically, ISTM that traffic has dropped off more in the last couple months.

But that could just be because it seems like Foster isn't around as much, and I miss that guy with the collection of silly striped blue pants.

:)

ISTM ??

I would love there to be a law that abolishes abbreviations.

ISTM = International Society for Testing Materials, I do believe.

I'm pretty sure we were both yanking your chain, Wade.

Though I do share Kevin's distaste for internet abbreviations.

Hits are such a poor way to measure web traffic. Visitors and unique visitors are much more accurate. A hit on a website is on any file that is called from the server. Let's say this page has 10 images, 2 javascripts, 1 css file, and a php file; that would be 14 hits for this page alone, greatly misrepresenting how much traffic comes to this site when measured in hits.

That's insane, I've heard of hit counters like that, but in over a decade of web development and administration I've never seen a counter behave like that.

I quoted the word hits for a reason and I didn't say it was a good measure of web traffic, but its the only one I have available since we used three hosts during 2010 and I no longer have access to the good stats from the original host.

The counter here increments by one whenever a .php file is loaded from the server. Hit F5, counter goes up by one if you are on the site and not a file. Click a link on the forums, counter goes up by one. Etc ... it doesn't count graphics or CSS files or db queries, nothing like that. It's a very simple counter. There's also a mod I can that tracks each unique IP, but I think it slows the site down so not worth it to me.

The amount of hits don't matter to me all that much, but I like stats so I do check them out from time to time for grins.

Check out Google Analytics. It's free and better than anything any host can offer.

Maybe this has something to do with the dropoff?

I've had us on Google Analytics since Jan 2nd. I wonder if that's why the sites been laggy the last few days.

What does Bounce Rate mean?

And yes, the site has been noticeably laggy the past couple of days.

I made a change to the file so we'll see if it loads quicker, if not, I'm gonna ditch it all together as it's not that important.

If you're looking for more "hits," just post another poll with insufficient options to vote on and I'd be glad to ''hit' you!

Cheesy has been slacking lately so I thought I'd attempt to fill in for him.

beast (44m) : Yeah it's weird, if anything goes wrong the defense and OL get blamed, even if passing game fault
hardrocker950 (2h) : But I put it mostlt on the offense and poor playcalling
hardrocker950 (2h) : I have seen the defense take a lot of flak over the loss..
Cheesey (3h) : Rodgers would have hit open guys. The game plan wouldn't have killed us. Less 3 and outs, and maybe some scores.
beast (4h) : Rodgers wouldn't of abandon attepting to get the ball to Nelson and Adams.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Rodgers with that game plan would have came up short too.
beast (5h) : Yeah the Packers defense got wore out... being on the field so long. Giving longer breathers than 3&out would of helped a lot IMO.
Cheesey (6h) : There wouldn't have been so many 3 and outs, thus keeping our D off the field.
Cheesey (6h) : True, but with the low score we would have had a chance with Rodgers behind center.
Zero2Cool (6h) : Brees is a damn good QB, not giving Capers a pass, not even close.
Zero2Cool (6h) : Saints kicked Packers ass with Rodgers too.
Cheesey (7h) : That's just it. Rodgers needs a DEFENSE as well. And without him, there is NO chance.
beast (8h) : Just fire everyone! Rodgers can do it without them! Hell trade for the healthy Browns players!
Cheesey (10h) : Capers needs to GO. So do players that can't cut it.
Zero2Cool (10h) : Capers presser summed up? INjuries are why we suck. (shut up, coach and adapt)
Zero2Cool (10h) : nearly crapped myself hearing dom capers talk, forgot to close the tab after mccarthy haha
Zero2Cool (11h) : McCarthy said the communication was not good enough on defense yesterday. Injuries in secondary have complicated substitution patterns.
Zero2Cool (11h) : McCarthy again says "I believe in him"... sorry, BS, we saw how you believe in him yesterday.
Zero2Cool (11h) : @The_Green_Gold Highest graded players Kenny Clark & Blake Martinez. It wouldn't be possible to grade an entire defense
Porforis (11h) : Well, it WAS clean until someone 'shouted' in it...
Zero2Cool (12h) : QB Brett Hundley when targeting a WR against Saints: 6-for-15, 54 yards.
Zero2Cool (12h) : clean?
