I can live with comments that the Packers are the best, he's the best, etc ... but I don't much care for singling out players or teams, it seems classless. Michael David Smith wrote:Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has a message for the Eagles and the Saints: Enjoy everyone talking about you during the preseason while you can. Finley was asked on WSSP in Milwaukee why the Eagles and Saints are getting more national media attention than the defending champion Packers, and Finley said it’s just a matter of time before that changes. “I ain’t worrying about all that,” Finley said, via Sports Radio Interviews. “All that talk with the Eagles and the Saints, that will come to a halt, I guarantee you.” Finley said he’s eager for the Packers’ September 8 opener against the Saints at Lambeau Field. And he dismissed Eagles quarterback Vince Young’s claim that the Eagles are a “dream team.” “Ah man, that’s just talk,” Finley said. “That’s on paper. VY is a backup, I don’t think he should be doing too much talking.” http://profootballtalk.n...p-the-eagles-and-saints/ |

Finley's a dumbass. Reminds me a lot more TO and Moss than Rice and DD. |

I really have nothing nice to say about Finley at this moment. Finley calling out VY about being a backup just makes me laugh. I think there are backup TEs that have as many TDs if not more than Finley in the last three years. I have had enough of this clown. |

I never felt talk was as big as some fans made it out to be, which is why I've often been sympathetic toward players like Ochocinco, Owens, and Moss. The national media has created a perception that it's bad to talk like that. It makes no difference on the football field, so it's meaningless. Shannon Sharpe did an awful lot of talking throughout his career. He's in the Hall of Fame. If Finley has half the career he did at TE, it's all good in my opinion. |

Agreed.. it matters little between the lines.. but in the media filled environment we live in, why bother subjecting the team to the extra attention.
All this "just talk" is nothing more than that.. contributing to it proves little other than more talk and all it can do is bite you in the ass. |

For me it has nothing to do with the football field or thinking his talk would affect the outcome at all. As a fan of the team I prefer to have players not be arrogant jerks. As Zero said, I don't mind him saying Packers are looking great, but to single out a person and use their role as a position to say that they aren't worthy enough to talk. I don't agree with belittling people, you can disagree with someone's opinion, but how does him being a backup have anything to do with it? Especially when Finley's stat line looked a lot like a backup last season.

It seems like whenever Finley says anything at all there are fans just waiting to pounce on it and overreact. I don't see anything very bad about what he said here.
Some of you really need to get a grip. This is supposed to be about a GAME that is FUN. These aren't football robots out there playing they are people with personalities. We get way too worked up about a little competitive trash talk.
The only thing that gets to me is players directly calling out their teammates. The only thing that bothers me about this is it was directed at two teams I don't care about instead of the Vikings or Bears. |

If you don't want players to be arrogant, you might as well stop watching football. I understand we’re you’re coming from, but we're talking about guys who make millions of dollars. Ego comes with the territory. I understand the criticism of unwanted attention. At the same time, the only thing that matters is how the guys in the locker room perceive him. For all the flack Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders got, I never really heard anyone important come out and say they were bad teammates. That's when you have something to worry about. |

I'm actually on Finley's side here, I don't see any negativity from his comments. I mean let's be serious, Eagles & Saints < Packers. I love seeing confidence from players on the team keeps the fire burning. |

Come on some of you guys are such haters. First of all I love his swagger and second what he is saying is not that ridiculous. He called out a back up QB, I think that's pretty reasonable.

I'm all for swagger, I just don't like the mentioning of other players or teams too much. I prefer how Aaron Rodgers throws down his swagger. He calls people out, but doesn't use their names directly. |

Finley's comments would be easier to swallow if he did not spend most of last season off the field. Injuries are not his fault directly but you figure he would be thinking about wanting to prove himself for a full season before talking like he has already made the pro bowl. The guy doesn't seem to have much going on upstairs when he makes comments like this.

My impression of Finley has always been that he has million dollar talent and a ten cent brain. The guy's dim, plain and simple. He's got the talent to back up his mouth, so hopefully we see him do just that. |
