Fuck. This thread has gone to hell in a matter of a couple of posts.

Seriously, people. Nesting quotes two levels deep is (kind of) understandable . . . but four or five? Ugh. I've just read the thread. I don't want to read it all over again.

sometimes it is annoying. Sometimes it is helpful to follow a real discussion. (not the one I just added to.) Especially if it is over the course of a couple of days. Saves the time of going back and looking at what was said yesterday or last week.
It is just a useful tool. No one is making you read everything that was previously quoted.

You know, if we didn't have this innate tendency to go off topic, nesting quotes would not be needed at all, lol. :P Oops, forgot to add ... Just. Saying!

That's not true. I know you were sitting on your stool conjuring ideas of how to piss off Rourke and went YAHTZEE!!! Nest a shit load of quotes! :)

I disabled it again, because it is annoying and exponentially increases the size of the database with each post.

to save the database space I manually cleaned up my nested post.

Space in the database is not a real big concern at all. If it is, I'll prune old topics rather than ask folks to post less.

I just don't care for reading the same 4 posts in the ensuing post in threads. I know sometimes it nice to have available, but the posts are there earlier in the thread for reference.

BTW, I created this topic and titled it, not Rourke.

Nested quotes are great for discussions that are spittered (pretty sure i made up that word. sup?) across long threads. Makes the conversation easiest to follow. I understand it looks cluttered but honestly when I know whats going on in a thread I completely skip over the quotes (or piles of quotes) and go right to what the user posted. Don't even notice they are there. I know everyone has their pet-peeves but i just don't see it as a huge deal.

I guess I never really thought of them as a benefit. I've viewed them as clutter and not important. Although, knowing that it gets Rourke's panties in a bunch ... I may have to reconsider. :P

Okay, this is a good point. (Hence the applause.)

On the other hand, I think you and I are rather unusual in the age of internet superficiality and me-me-me-ness in that we read the entire thread.
None of the above. It wouldn't have been a wasted vote. Obama and Romney -- Those were the wasted votes.
