I haven't been able to see quotes for a couple months. Just didn't think I should bring it up. You've been kind of menstrual lately Zero. |

If it is over a period of a day or two I skim thru the older ones to see what the chain of events was. |

I guess I never really thought of them as a benefit. I've viewed them as clutter and not important. Although, knowing that it gets Rourke's panties in a bunch ... I may have to reconsider. :P I don't really have much to say here, i just wanted to quote this so i could nest some quotes and make NSD pull his hair out. I want you to know how much work it is sometimes to be a pain in the butt around here. But I am willing to do my part for the sake of the forum. |

OK. Please enlighten me because I missed something. Why is DakotaT "bee boy?" I've heard the reference many times but don't know the source. |

So let me get this straight. You think nested quotes are great but you skip right over them? Then what, pray tell, is the point of nested quotes? |

It helps to follow the comments. As you have noticed the threads can very easily become jumbled. I don't re-read every single quote but I can if I need to see what has taken place over a couple of days or the prior quotes have started to wander. That is a lot easier than to clink the quote link on 3 or 4 prior posts. Plus I will scan the replies. Sometimes I miss something. When nested I can go back and find the portion of the post that I missed, misread and get back up to speed with the rest of the conversation fairly quickly. If we have it- great. If we don't have it- I will do without. |

As I have said so many times before, I am not opposed to nested quoting per se. I just seriously doubt that quotes nested more than two levels deep are ever truly necessary to establish context for a quote, and almost never does the entire post, much less a string of posts, need to be quoted to establish context. It's the routine, mindless use of nesting to which I object. No one has ever complained about not being able to understand my carefully trimmed quotes. |

Wade, your sweet ND love nectar is in a box, but I'm waiting to send you your Christmas card. Just the babes this year, my ugly ass wasn't invited. |
