http://www.nationalfootb...so-Saintly-Behavior.htmlWatch all the Vikings fans climb out of the woodwork to tell us all how they got hosed by this in their playoff game. (They are still obsessed with that game, even going in.) Just watch. If you were to listen to all the hype- presently and forthcoming this weekend (a prediction)- there were no referees in these games, or they were also "in on it". This oughta be good. Personally I don't think it's as big a deal as people make it out to be.
But don't get me wrong, the hammer still needs to come down hard on this one. |

Favre said he was not offended by the unethical behavior.
Kurt Warner said he was.
Go figure. |

As a fellow PP.O poster said, Quote:I predict that teh NFL will do the following:
Very little.
Fact is, the Saints have the trophey. Nothing matters after that. Every time we - as Viking fans - enter a debate with any fan of any Superbowl winning team, we're told that the Superbowl is all that matters. Every NFL fan believes this to be true.
A TRUE punishment would be for the Saints to vacate their Superbowl win, return the rings, bonuses, and tropheys, and to lose their entire draft.
But that won't happen.
Instead, it'll be a token fine and a slap on the wrist...and they'll still be Superbowl winners.
And we won't.
I agree with it completely. Bringing all this up now is moot. |

Are we to believe that a little red squiggly line didn't appear under the word "trophey" when he was typing that post? |

I think those calling for the NFL to strip them of the Lombardi are insane. Whether their defense tried to hurt opposing players or not, they we're still the best team in the league that year. The trophy is theirs.
Dock a draft pick or two if something has to be done. |

If they would strip the Saints, would the Packers get handed the XXXII trophy because the Donkeys cheated on the cap? |

Patriots lost a 1st rounder for the whole spygate fiasco. I wonder if the Saints will get an equivalent punishment.
Goddel has claimed that he cares about player safety so logic would indicate that he would lay down the hammer. I don't think Goddel's moral or professional interests are in line with this view though so probably not much will happen. |

Dock a draft pick or two if something has to be done. How were they the best team in the league that year? Because they ended with the hardware? Ok, fair argument. But then I present to you a case where if they DIDN'T take out QBs illegally, they don't win the hardware. That would leave quite a conundrum for you, wouldn't it? My point (and the quoted poster's as well) was why even bother bringing this up? It will accomplish nothing but more controversy between fanbases. |

My point (and the quoted poster's as well) was why even bother bringing this up? It will accomplish nothing but more controversy between fanbases. I wish someone would compile a list of QBs the Saints injured that year. I don't think they injured very many. And if they did, if there's no flag, then there's no foul, players can be injured with clean hits too. I just don't understand why some people think this is such an advantage. Players try to hit other players hard regardless of whether there's a bounty system in place. It's hardly the equivalent of spying the other teams signals. This is just playing dirty. The Saints should be punished. But they were the best team that year. |

The Saints should be punished. But they were the best team that year. I don't think I agree. My guess is they would have beat the Cardinals regardless. But I think Favre and the Vikings would have beat them. I don't know if the Vikings would have beat Manning & Co. I would like to say no, but who knows. But I remember worrying that this might be the Vikings year. And I definitely remember thinking at the time that (a) the Saints looked more like thugs every time I saw them play and (b) that without that thuggery the Vikings would probably have won by a couple touchdowns. Do I think Goodell will take the Katrina trophy away. No. Not a chance. They'll be able to display the thing forever. But I do think this should taint the Saints "wins" that year. Every last one of them. |
None of the above. It wouldn't have been a wasted vote. Obama and Romney -- Those were the wasted votes. |
