If i was a Vikings fan, I'd be TICKED OFF.
Just as i was when i found out the Broncos cheated on their salary cap.

Heck, if they don't come down hard on the cheaters, what's the point of having rules at all? What's the incentive to stop the cheating?
Take away their championship trophy and it will make them think next time they even THINK to cheat.
That's my opinion, at least.

Of course there will be a punishment for this. But taking away a Lombardi through is downright silly if you consider that the Patriots got to keep their trophy after Spygate. Knowing the other team's signals affects the outcome of the game FAR more than a simple bounty pool. Unless the players in this league are really lazy and greedy enough that a small monetary prize suddenly lights the fire inside them.

Why should Viking fans be ticked off? They lost because the Saints outplayed them... if the Saints really played that dirty, then the refs should've noticed it and thrown flags.

Packers' fans can not be mad at the Broncos'. Yes, they cheated the salary cap, but give me a break, that had very little to do with the Packers losing the Super Bowl. The Broncos wanted the game more than the Packers, period. I won't make petty excuses about the salary cap, it's not just right.

Vikings' fans have nothing to be pissed about either. The Vikings players gave the damn game away. Didn't they have several fumbles in that game or something? Vikings choked and Saints took advantage of it.


The game of football is about ADAPTING to the flow of the game. If you see a team cheating, USE IT AGAINST THEM! Does this happen? Yes, but more often than not teams players whine to the damn officials. Be creative, use their cheating AGAINST them and to YOUR advantage. Don't be whiny women and whine to the banker in stripes, be a professional!


I know I'm a little over the top here, but seriously, I just feel we all spend too much time making excuses rather than finding solutions. It's like we just want the easy way out for things. Step up, roll up your sleeves and get to work on being better.

And Alan, if you take offense to my words, I'll come down there and slap that mullet off ya! :P

I don't blame the Broncos for the super bowl loss.

I blame Holmgren. If you let the other team score, you deserve to lose.

The hit that sent him reeling was a high/low hit. I believe that was the year they cracked down on hits below the waist of the QB.

If a few hundred dollars for a hit can motivate your opponent to beat you, do you really deserve to win? Perhaps if the team focused on holding onto the ball and scoring?? It might help to throw the ball to your guys instead of the opponent as well.


I think Packers fans should be pissed about the '11 Giants game. Clearly the ball was greased, it was a conspiracy to prevent the Packers from getting another streak of three championships in a row. Oh and the Giants jerseys were too tight, thus the Packers players were unable to tackle, we can be pissed at Reebok for that.

Anyone have more excuses??

Why the floop shouldn't we be mad?! We know the Vikings HANDED the 'Aints that game (with a tiny bit of help from refs, IMO), that's why we are pissed about it. We know that the Vikings held Breesus to 55% completion (season average that year was over 70%) and almost a full 100 yards under his per game average for that year and we also know that despite such stellar play from the defense that game that the offense put the ball on the turf 5 times (2 were recovered by the Vikings) and threw it to the defense twice. We also know that judging by how close that game was that if they turned it over only ONE less time than they did, they most likely end up going to the big dance.

That's what we have to be mad about.

Formo, hell hath frozen over, but the Vikings did outplay the Saints that game, in every facet. But they did shoot their own foot off and to their credit, the Saints took full advantage.

It would have been interesting watching TJack play QB in the Super Bowl though. There aren't enough pain killers on Earth to have gotten Favre into that game.

I don't remember the Vikings outplaying the Saints, but I do recall the Vikings shooting themselves in the foot a few times an the Saints taking advantage.

Officials make bad calls, miss calls, etc ... whining about that is just sour grapes. I can understand the Vikings fans making excuses though, it was the closest they've been to a Super Bowl in a very long time and they won't be getting that close any time soon.

I'd be grabbing the boxes of Kleenex as well. Sniff. Sniff.

The only reason the Vikings fans are still obsessing about that Saints game is because it really mattered. They are so very unused to that and have absolutely no idea as to how to act.

It wasn't even a Super Bowl, for God's sake. I think they STILL haven't figured that part out.

Jared Allen should have never said he wanted to put his helmet in Aaron Rodger's spine. Karma is a complete pure bitch, I keep tellin' everyone.

One.. depending on how the "bounty" was intended (injure vs smack him hard) I may or may not have a huge issue with the notion of a friendly wager in the locker room.

If they are betting whom gets more picks, tackles, decleaters... I have zero issue with it.

If they are placing money on knocking someone out of the game or worse.. well then I think it clearly is over the line.

I give two pinches less the opponent.. Vikes, Bears, Patriots, hell even the Cowboys.. it should be dealt with and post haste.



That said.. the NFL is chickenshit and will not properly penalize the Saints.. just like it let Billy the Cheat and the Pats skate.

They might lay the hammer down on the players and asst coaches.. but the good ol' boy network will prevail at the franchise level. Too much money is at stake to deal with it properly.

King also explains that defensive end Anthony Hargrove can be heard saying, “Favre is out of the game! Favre is done! Favre is done!”

Both statements would be strong circumstantial proof of the existence of a bounty program, if the NFL hadn’t already found that the bounty program existed. And King spells out the weekly routine that unfolded during the 2009 season, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams’ first in New Orleans.

On Saturday night, Williams handed out in a defensive meeting envelopes containing payments for big plays and inflicted injuries from the prior Sunday. And the defenders would then chant, “Give it back! Give it back! Give it back!” Many did, which caused the pile of available cash to keep growing.

The bounty system continued even after, as King explains in the Tuesday edition of his MMQB column, former Vikings coach Brad Childress sent to the league video of eight different hits on Favre from that game, the Vikings officially alleged that the Saints had put a bounty on Favre, and Williams, linebackers coach Joe Vitt, and Hargrove denied (i.e., lied about) its existence to investigators. For Williams, the denials (i.e., lies) continued through the middle of February 2012, when Williams was confronted with evidence implicating him as the “ringleader.” Williams, per King, once again tried to deny it, but Williams then met with Goodell to confess.

Williams was back in New York on Monday, possibly to confess yet again (after possibly denying/lying yet again) his involvement in bounty systems in other cities.

King thinks the punishment issued to the Saints and various individuals will “likely dwarf” the penalties meted out for Spygate. The more we learn about the situation, the less surprising that will be.


Really, screaming "pay me my money" after injuring someone? That's pretty damn pathetic. I still don't think that the Saints wouldn't have won without the bounty system but morally this is about as low as you can get on a football field.

Bolded by me. I'm fine with wagers for tackles, sacks, interceptions, etc. I'm not fine with wagers for injuries. That's pretty fucking sick.

I finally read the SI article in print because it was in my wife's chiropractor's office. I'd like to see the Saints get fined and lose a draft pick or two.

As a Vikings fan, the only punishment I would want was to turn back time and replay that game. If they can't do that.. Then no punishment is worthy enough. lol

No, I actually meant 'Back to the Future' type mojo. Which is obviously not possible. Thus, no punishment is worthy. IMO
