If there is one thing I hate about this forum package -- besides its innumerable incompatibilities with Chrome, of course -- it's the implementation of BBCode tags on this board. On other boards, if you hit the UserPostedImage button, for example, a set of tags are inserted into the post and the cursor is positioned between the tags, allowing you to type or paste your text without having to reposition the cursor. In YAF, the cursor is positioned after the tags, necessitating a manual reposition of the cursor. I know this seems like a minor issue, but it really is a poor design choice and it hampers the workflow. I would think this should be a really simply code fix. At least, it would be in PHP, but I imagine this board isn't coded in PHP.:-"

At first, I thought you were bat shit crazy, but now I see what you're talking about. I've submitted the suggestion on the software's forum.

My opinion.. it isn't a software problem, it is a development management problem.

From the little I have seen and researched of YAF.. being open source like they are and being IMO poorly managed as a collection.. they introduce code that is constantly stepping on other elements of the code.

Common issue with a wide range of coders compiling into a single source.. but over the course of PH run on the software, it appears that they are not learning from their struggles.. they are cycling them over and over.

I was caught in a ERP rollout nearly a decade ago with similar problems, it wasn't until the company rebuilt the development strategies and became more rigid in the development standards and processes that the software improved. Eight years later, the company has gotten the process refined into a very solid and fluid company.

Eight years.. but it took constant improvement over the course.. something that IMO, YAF isn't doing at this point.

I don't know their overall structure, but IMO, that is the root, not the language the platform is built upon.

I've been pleased with the YAF software and don't have any complaints. What struggles are you referring to and what problems do you see? I'm asking objectively because maybe I'm just complacent since the thing fires up for me every day and I haven't gotten shut down for "Sending Spam", lol. That ordeal still gets my goat, err DONKEY!!

It isn't a complaint.. it is more a observance of the issue cycle with each release.

IE.. when builds or updates are applied, features that were working snap. Example.. pop ups currently. Post notifications. those types of issues.

Not so much the core up time or functionality... it seems to be the add on modules/features that seem to be caught in the crossfire.

Mind you.. this is from a user perspective and not a admin one with looking at the actual site performance nor the code itself.

It appears the popup issue is more self inflicted. One of the core developers tried duplicating the issue and it looks like when I update the site core, it'll be resolved.

You may have noticed twice in the last week or two the site was down for an upgrade. This will continue to happen because we're not running the latest version of DNN and they feel the next upgrade is critical.

Zero2Cool (11h) : Hi 😊😉
TheKanataThrilla (16h) : I guess I should have did a refresh when I walked away from the computer.
TheKanataThrilla (16h) : Peters is 25 with one year left on his contract at just over $3M
Zero2Cool (18h) : Mel Kiper sticks with Marcus Davenport to GB in 2nd mock
Zero2Cool (19h) : As for Marcus Peters, how old is he an what's his contract years left?
Zero2Cool (19h) : Packers got tired of Sitton's antics.
Zero2Cool (19h) : Sitton was released not because of play or salary, but personality. He will not be re-signed.
TheKanataThrilla (19h) : If we are planning on possibly cutting Cobb I can see the 2nd round pick. A second round pick for Peters is a pretty good deal.
Smokey (21h) : I'd offer Cobb + a 3rd round pick + a 6th round pick in 2019 for the CB Peters from KC.
TheKanataThrilla (21h) : I guess that is a highter round pick
TheKanataThrilla (21h) : Suggestion was a 2nd round pick. I would want a lower round pick. I think that is too much. A 3rd or 4th seems about right.
Smokey (21h) : Cobb and WHAT PICK ?
TheKanataThrilla (22h) : A suggestion I saw was a trade of Cobb and a Pick for Peters. I think that would be a great move.
Smokey (21-Feb) : Sitton was drafted be GB in 2008, not a young man at this point, but still is a "bear" of a man.
Cheesey (21-Feb) : Sitton? Maybe if the price is right.
Cheesey (21-Feb) : I doubt the Packers would try to resign Sutton. But who knows? If the price is right?
Zero2Cool (20-Feb) : Bears declining option on Josh Sitton. He'll be Free Agent.
Zero2Cool (20-Feb) : Chiefs CB Marcus Peters trade rumors -- come to Packers!
Smokey (20-Feb) : Join us in Packershome and be part of the discussion today .
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Elizabeeth ... good bye

Rockmolder (19-Feb) : My girlfriends says thanks, Rourke.
Smokey (19-Feb) : Nonstopdrivel that you most likely say to all the frogs you meet .
Nonstopdrivel (19-Feb) : Rockmolder's avatar is so fucking sexy.
gbguy20 (19-Feb) : never seen the interview before. tough to listen to. can't believe it was 7 years ago

buckeyepackfan (17-Feb) : Saints De'Vante Harris nothing but a POS!!!!! Look up his tweetes on Florida killings!!
Nonstopdrivel (17-Feb) : They're laying new gas line near my house. The trucks are all from a company in Madison.

Zero2Cool (13-Feb) : Based off 2017 records, Packers have toughest schedule for 2018
