There is so much focus on the phyiscal of Nick's neck which I understand, but where is the questioning of how Nick will respond psychologically when faced with the nasty types of hits that a Safety is required to deliver. I want Nick back, but I am afraid the Nick we do get back will not be the one we are used to even if he is given guarantees that he is no more at risk than any other football player.

I think after a few games, perhaps pre-season, and he feels fine the next morning ... he'll resume back to his old self. No question, it will take some time ... just how much time though?

Clearly Nick still has to make the team. This is even true of Aaron Rodgers. If ANY player goes out of the field and just flat out can't get it done, he will be replaced.

The topic at hand is, should Nick be forced to retire, even if he can still get it done? I say no. The doctor who did the surgery stands by his work, and has cleared Nick. To me, that says alot.

That's not the topic. But, I'll roll with it.

If Nick Collins' doctor says he's no more at risk NOW than he was prior to the injury, his family wants him to play and the Packers doctors clear him ... he should most definitely have the choice to play or not.

Nick returning to form has been the biggest question mark to me. When thinking about it, however, I think it's possible. It will take some time, but it's certainly possible. NFL players are used to that kind of stuff and with enough training and conditioning (both mental and physical), I think he'll be OK.

I've been thinking along these lines too. If the guy absolutely insists on playing, I'd rather it were with GB.

I agree, even though if it were my brother or son I would like to see him retire.

I guess the draft will be an excellent indicator of what the Packers are thinking. The have Jennings and Levine lying in the weeds and I think they are high on both. Maybe Nick should come back and go on the PUP list to get back into football shape.

I believe it is a really poor draft for safeties.

As far as I'm concerned this looks like Ted Thompson gamesmanship. He just doesn't want other teams to know what he's gonna do.

I feel much better about Nick's situation now.

This is a good idea, but I think it would be better to get him some preseason action action. It's no secret he's been out of football for nearly a year by the time the first game comes around. I think more game action the better because physically he's probably fine, but mentally is going to be the biggest hurdle. And to hop that hurdle, it'll take more game time.

I wouldn't put it past Ted Thompson. I am leaning towards the belief that the Packers (if all doctors clear Nick Collins) they will retain his services. Nick Collins agent stated they are still waiting for more doctors input ... I can't help think they pretty much know all they need to and the Packers want to use the uncertainty as leverage to scare other teams into trading up in front of the Packers to take a Safety ... even though the Packers might not be interested since Nick Collins is (hypothetically) coming back.

Agreed.

I'd hate to play poker with Ted Thompson. He'd end up with my money, my credit cards, and my wedding ring and I'd be convinced I won the game.

Cheesey (3h) : "Wonderlic", it's how many licks you "wonder" it takes to get to the middle of a Tootsie Pop.
Zero2Cool (10h) : Stop putting words in other peoples mouth. Worry about YOU, no one else. Move on.
Smokey (10h) : Fine wpr, U2 has your's and the other's permission to piss on any member at any time. woof
Zero2Cool (10h) : But we can assume if someone doesn't know, they can ask, or perform an internet search. Move on.
Smokey (11h) : Potential NFL Draftees and Players are asked to take it to score how smart they are .
Smokey (11h) : Wonderlic is a cognitive ability test, usually administered to new employees.
Smokey (11h) : It should not just be assumed that everyone knows what,"Wonderlic" is .
Zero2Cool (12h) : Most players don't care about wonderlic. Some agents prep players. Not reasonable standard.
beast (12h) : We shouldn't judge. ..
uffda udfa (12h) : He has a rep for keen football intelligence. Some guys just don't come across as bright.
uffda udfa (13h) : What thing should we judge intelligence on? Wonderlic is out to you. How he sounds is out.. what is criteria?
uffda udfa (13h) : Are you taking issue with him not being particularly bright? Based on what?
beast (13h) : It's sad your judging a person brightness on such shallow things...
shield4life (22h) : Resign Nick Perry
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Need some strong sharp passionate voices on D. Daniels gives great quotes.
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Nick Perry seems to be the team leader as he was giving pregame speeches that seemed very uninspiring.
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Morgan and his 14 wonderlic. Ever hear him talk? Man, not a bright guy at all.
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Burnett needs to be replaced. That's our leader? Or one of them? No, thanks.
beast (23-Jan) : For the secondary, I think Burnett/Haha are the leaders.
Smokey (23-Jan) : GB needs a new motto : DEFENSE RULES ! , is intended to change the direction of the Packers focus moving forward .
Smokey (23-Jan) : Thank You Zero.
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Great reading a thread and seeing "defense rules" spammed in them all. Great reading material.
Smokey (23-Jan) : DEFENSE RULES !
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Think you need to defensive leaders. Front Seven and Secondary. We seem to lack both. Daniels is closest.
beast (23-Jan) : Packers players had a right to complain when they were being bullied by Mike Daniels... just talking about Packers ;-) jk
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : It was the 26th largest margin since 1940. Feels much worse
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : thought it was biggest margin of victory in Conf Championship, I was mistaken.
Smokey (23-Jan) : Wow ! The Packers got disrespected too !
Smokey (23-Jan) : Hello ?
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Can't. MM burned them all.
Smokey (23-Jan) : go pack go ?
wpr (23-Jan) : Smokey AND Uffda, you both ca be placed in a timeout. Stop it.
Smokey (23-Jan) : go pack go :)
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : STOP! Talk Packers or STFU. K thanks. :-)
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Ranting about everyone to stop talking Wolf while talking cooking appliances.
