Agreed.
I'd hate to play poker with

. He'd end up with my money, my credit cards, and my wedding ring and I'd be convinced I won the game.
He'd also have you naked and bent over the table, and you'd say thanks for the lesson Ted. [roflmao]

I read from a few places that the only reason Nick Collins needed the surgery was to have a chance to play in the NFL again. That he could have went without it and lived a 'normal' life.
Financially, I think he could afford it, lol.
He could've also afforded two weeks worth of acupuncture.

Packers | Won't meet with Nick Collins before draft
Wed, 18 Apr 2012 07:10:05 -0700
The Green Bay Packers will not meet with FS Nick Collins (neck) to determine his future until after the NFL Draft, according to his agent, Alan Herman. Collins hasn't received all the medical advice he needs to make a decision about whether to continue playing football following the single-fusion surgery on his neck last September. "All the opinions aren't in, and I think he's getting another opinion," Herman said. "That doctor was not available. He was on vacation, so I'm hopeful soon. But I think he's got another meeting with one of the doctors."

Packers | Chad Clifton taking part in workouts
Wed, 18 Apr 2012 14:33:25 -0700
Green Bay Packers OT Chad Clifton (back) is taking part in offseason workouts and has been rehab from back surgery he had earlier this offseason. It appears the team will give Clifton the chance to win a starting job during training camp.

When asked whether Nick Collins’ situation and his uncertain return from neck fusion surgery last September makes it necessary to draft a safety, Ted Thompson said: “We don’t feel like we have to target a particular position. That’s not what we do.”
No kidding it won't, cuz you already know! ;-)

Too bad it won't be with the Packers, or maybe they could sign him back once he is football healthy again.
"RT @jasonjwilde The #Packers have released Nick Collins, according to agent Alan Herman"

Reading the words makes it "real". I thought from the start he and Peyton Manning should hang it up. The only way I was okay with Nick Collins coming back was if doctors said he was at no more risk now, than prior to the injury, essentially saying he's as good as new. I personally don't believe any doctor would say that for liability reasons. We haven't heard officially what any doctor has said yet so we can only speculate on what was said, or maybe more importantly ... what was not said.
I think the Packers did the same thing with Terrance Murphy. They released him and he then retired. I'm hoping Nick Collins retires and it would be good to see him on the sidelines as an assistant. I believe Darren Perry or Joe Whit Jr will be leaving after this season with a promotional position change on another team.
Groom Nick Collins as the new Safeties coach ...

Dammit! Packers did the right thing, but... dammit! I hope he doesn't try to play anywhere else...

And for the only part that dhazer cares about ... the Packers will have an extra $3.05 million on this seasons salary cap.

This is really sad. He was the best in the NFL, and represented our team well.
Draft Iloka. Ted, draft Iloka.

Pretty shocked that they didn't wait a few more days to announce this.
Eagerly awaiting how Dhazer will twist this into an "Evil Ted Thompson" moment, with the timing of this(serves the team in no significant way, in fact has a negative impact on the draft) its hard to say the release was anything other than in Nick's best interest.
Really sad to see him go, but hope he does retire at this point.

Terrance Murphy was injured against the Panthers in Carolina.
Nick Collins was injured against the Panthers in Carolina.
Both ended up being released by the Packers. Murphy disagreed with the Packers and wanted to continue playing.

Not entirely true. A team that covets a Safety and sees the Packers picking in front of them, might be willing to trade with the Packers to get the player instead. :)

Wasn't Robert Ferguson injured by Carolina, too? (I'm convinced that hit was a big part of why he never took the next step.)
