I think Tom Coughlin is in error on his angst over the final play. The Bucs were lined up as to say they were coming.. they came.

Kneel down or not.. the game was not over. Ever hear of the Miracle at the Meadowlands? You should have.

If you didn't like that they were coming after you on the final snap.. take a timeout or delay of game and change the play. The Bucs don't have to concede the game as anything could have happened if they jar the ball free.

What it boils down to is the Giants were not prepared to get smoked in the mouth.. and Tom didn't like it.

Schiano doesn't need to nor should he apologize for playing the game to the final whistle... he is trying to change the culture down there. He wants an aggressive football team.. nothing wrong with it at all.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. Sure, 99.9% of the time nothing is going to happen, but if I'm within 8 points of tying or winning, I'd want my team to press on until the final whistle.

Apparently the Giants were telling the Buccaneers they weren't running a play. That's their fault.

I agree.
The clock is still running, and the other team still wants to win. It's YOUR job to stop them.
If it was a blowout, where the other team had no chance, THEN i'd be upset.

Amen dude.. Play 100% until the final whistle. They (TB) would have been blasted if Eli muffed the handoff and the ball layed on the carpet for any significant time before the Giant's dropped on it. So yes, Coughlin and Eli are whiny bitches of the week. Well, after myself, of course. Haha.

I agree.

Frankly, I hate the kneel down play. That's less "football" than what Schiano's boys did. I wish more teams did that kind of trying to cause a turnover stuff.

Eff you, Tom, you Big Apple wuss.

Agree with all. However, the "victory kneel down" is my favorite Packer play.

Read a story somewhere that Jerry Jones wants to get rid of the kneel-down play.

Good grief. Now I'm agreeing with Jerry Jones.

I think I need to take a cold shower now.

Miracle at the Meadowlands wasn't a kneel down, but yes, it was forced by pressuring when they did kneel it.

I think that it's a fair play. I mean, it's an unwritten rule that you don't rush when they opposing team takes a kneel down, but when you think of it... It's an absolutely ridiculous one. It's on par with an unwritten rule against rushing the kicker on PATs or something looney like that.

I've had a pounding headache all day so maybe I'm not following but doesn't this contradict itself? The play was a hand off, not a kneel down and there was no pressure from a kneel down because ... it wasn't a kneel down it was a hand off. Right?

They tried a kneel down the play before, but the Eagles knocked the Giants center into the QB, so instead of kneeling on the next play, they handed it off, for the sake of keeping their QB healthy... So it technically wasn't the pressure on the kneel down that did it, but it was one of the causes.

Quite nitpicky, though.

Oh, I see. So the play prior to the fumbled handoff they attempted a kneel down, but the Eagles pressured them, so the next play they tried a simple safe run and fumbled?

Point wasn't a kneel down play in reference.. it was the final play of the game. Basically anything can happen if you play to the final snap.

But yes, the Miracle in the Meadowlands is a valid reference as the aggressive play to the end changed the outcome of the game.
