Lydia, the soon to be 16 year old that I've been "daddy" to for the last 11+ years decided to do the locks of love thing. She cut off over 12 inches of hair. You can see the difference in the pictures. One is her on homecoming and the other is her being a doofus with her webcam for Facebook. She is a beautiful young woman. I would slap that young man if I were you. At least glare at him. |

I never had daughters. I guess God likes me better than he likes you. No offense of course. Just sayin'. I have a friend of mine who does though. His advice - if you like the guy she's dating, pretend you don't really like him. If you don't like the guy she's dating, take him hunting, take him fishing, take him to the movies, talk about him all the time in flattering tones, and she'll give him the evil words. All you fathers out there with daughters now can give me an applause point and I'll pass the applause points to my buddy. Oh, very cool what she did. (Don't you just love it Zero when we go off topic?) |
My man Donald Driver (thanks to Pack93z for the pic) 2010 will be seen as the beginning of the new Packers dynasty. |

(Don't you just love it Zero when we go off topic?) My dad says I'm crazy and asking for punishment by having two biological daughters and willingly taking on a third, lol. As for the advice, thanks but yeah, fully aware of that. I was a teenager once and remember the whole rebellion stuff. :) The only time I interfered was when a boy kept propositioning her for sex repeatedly after she kept saying no. I made it very clear to him if he wanted his teeth in his mouth an not a bag to drop his advances. Other than that. I trust her choices and feel confident that I've done an adequate job as a father to ensure she'll make the right decisions when the time presents itself. I'm more so the kind of parent that tries to educate his children to make the right decisions, rather than forcing them to make the right decisions. |

(Don't you just love it Zero when we go off topic?) as long as we are off topic, my daughter wasn't too contrary when it came to the young men she was seeing. I would give them all a little bit of a hard time. But not too bad. I think she liked them squirming a little. I told her many times that I want them to have to clear the bar that I set up. If they got too close I was going to raise the bar and make them work harder. (I already commented on Lydia's generosity. Maybe I could have her grow some locks for me. Winter is coming on.) |

I'm more so the kind of parent that tries to educate his children to make the right decisions, rather than forcing them to make the right decisions. You sound like a good father, and based on your posts, you sound like an excellent communicator with your kids. Don't take that stuff for granted. That's very important and they'll be grateful for it as they mature. I know I am with my parents. |

I think that might have been the first time someone said I communicate well based off my posts, lol. Typically, I am often misunderstood and taken the wrong way. lol.
It was actually 12 inches, not 18 inches. Oops! |

12 or 18 it is still all good. Young women giving their hair is an amazing this considering how much they can fixate over it. |

Last week, Lydia officially has my last name now. And Tuesday she had her wisdom teeth removed. Yesterday I took the day off to take care of her through the pain and today I have court in the afternoon to get alternating weekend visitation for my second youngest daughter. It's crazy how hectic life can be at times, but you have to roll forward and hope for the best. |
