So you can't hit them in the legs. You can't hit them in the head. You can't hit them with your upper body first, unless you can remove your head first. Pretty soon we will see Clay have to pull up 2 ft from QB, turn and try to blow him over with a massive fart. |

But when you look at the situation. Perry is approaching Luck. Luck's body is angled away from Perry so he is not hitting his square from the front or the side. It is a front quarter angle (when shooting a deer). In that situation, To properly hit Luck, You would try to hit him in the bicep/elbo area with your head to Luck's front. Exactly what Nick did. |

There is a reason I hate the QB position.. this is an example of such. Defenders can get blown up by a pulling guard, blindsided by a receiver or worse yet cut and taken out.. just part of the game or great block. But pop the golden boy with just a wee bit of the trauma.. flag.. now in the NFL fines and or suspensions. Why not just put a flag on their belt and bubble wrap the bitches. |

Again bullshit, but I can't blame the ref for flagging it. I blame the rules committee. It is no different than some of the defenseless receiver bullshit, the receivers move and when you are approaching to deliver the hit, you just can't always adjust. I hate the rules.. I hate QB's in general.. but I can't fault the Ref for throwing the flag. Originally Posted by: PackFanWithTwins

I would have put my head to the backside and whacked him with the right shoulder with the right arm swiping at the ball. The QB is going to slide up in the pocket if anything, this will protect me from drawing the flag. I would rather have my hand/arm on the ball ripping at it than my helmet. But I see what you are saying, it just ended poorly with the location of hat to chest. |

I hate the rules.. I hate QB's in general.. but I can't fault the Ref for throwing the flag. I would have thrown the flag based on the rules and they way the game is called and what I thought I saw real time. And I would have been wrong also.. It was my first instinct when I saw the hit live. The ruling on the field for the flag was hit to the QB head which really didn't happen so now the NFL is fining for Leading with the crown. Unless Goodell has some joint nobody else does, his head is on top of his shoulders as well. You can't tackle with your shoulder without the head being first. I like that Rodgers has spoken up about his also. QB's need to start saying that it is BS, that they wear pads and sign up knowing they can be hit. Some protection I can see, but they went to far years ago and just keep going further. |

But I see what you are saying, it just ended poorly with the location of hat to chest. Putting the head behind him, really increases the chance of a QB stepping up and missing the tackle completely. Along with the chance that Clay is coming around the other side ending up with a collision between team members. |
