Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley have dropped five passes each. Where's the Jordy Nelson bashing?
I've heard this from a number of people I respect, and it is a legit argument, to a point. Talking about THIS year, and the equal number of drops. However, you 1. don't hear Jordy mouthing off, proclaiming himself to be the best player at his position, while degrading the accomplishments of those who actually are, and 2. you don't see Jordy's drops being an issue that has been 3 years in the making.
As to Finley's blocking: "Before departing with a shoulder injury early in the third quarter, Finley had another critical drop on a short pass that probably would have given the Packers a first down just into Colts territory with 1 minute left in the half. That was disappointing enough, but his blocking was even worse. On a toss, Finley was late off the ball and couldn't cut off LB Dwight Freeney at the point, which knocked the blocking askew and wrecked the play. On an 18-yard screen pass, Finley had a variety of opponents that he could have looked up and decked as Cedric Benson slammed for 18. Because Finley doesn't play like a tough guy, he really didn't block anyone. His blocking probably is getting worse. He also had a motion penalty."
http://www.jsonline.com/...y-4975869-173231521.htmlI've seen Finley make some great blocks this year, and I've seen him make some really weak efforts. I've also seen him make a few great catches, along with some really bad drops of catchable, important balls. To me, he is not earning his keep here. Add the PR mess that he is and as been for the Packers, and his continued harping on a lack of "chemistry" with his QB, and, yeah, his shit is wearing thin.
The Big Unit, at 1250am likes to point to Nelson quite often in defense of Finley, insinuating a racial bias. Maybe there is some of that with -some- fans. Not me. I don't go for that stuff. I'll direct attention to those two points I mentioned regarding Jermichael Finley, and his lack of production. That is what it is. A lack of production and I think a bit of immaturity adding to a lack of professionalism.
I would get rid of him. He seems like a cancer to the team. He is not putting up, and he is not shutting up. Get rid of him. I'd rather have a slightly slower, shorter player who makes plays with consistency at the TE position than a prima dona physical wonder who continually misses important assignments.
He can turn that around by becoming more reliable and more professional, but I think we have been saying something along those lines for the past 3 or 4 years.
He reminds me a bit of Javon Walker. A friend of mine sat next to Javon on a plane ride, and described him to be like that big beautiful blonde with the big tits... dumb - as - a - doorknob.
