I'm not feeling the "trade Jennings" at all.
Healthy, for OUR offense, Gregorious is one of the top WRs in the NFL. With him and Jordy, we're going to be tough to beat, especially with the emergence of Cobb.
Let go of Finley, sure, but NOT Gregorious. |
My man Donald Driver (thanks to Pack93z for the pic) 2010 will be seen as the beginning of the new Packers dynasty. |

Maybe get a middle linebacker for Jennings, since Bishop appears to have caught the injury bug the last two seasons. |

Here's our situation: 1) Driver is retiring after this season. I think it's pretty evident. He's not getting very much playing time, 2) Nobody knows anything about Boykin. If I had to put money down, I'll bet he's a career #4 or #5 WR, 3) Finley is probably not a Packer after 2012, 4) Cobb's development was faster than I expected and we all know that Jordy's the man. James Jones is looking more like 2007 James Jones (which is a good thing) 5) Most importantly, we ARE a passing team 6) Crabtree is developing into an average TE
So where does that leave us? Jordy, Cobb, and James Jones as solid WRs with Crabtree as our main TE. That's a pretty good group. Would be nicer with Gregorious in that set, especially considering the injury bug seems to get us at the worst possible times, and we are a perennial Playoff team.
We NEED Gregorious just as much as Gregorious needs us. He needs to realize he'd be better off on a team like the Packers because his skill sets fit our group. |

Mike McCarthy said Boykin would have been a 2nd round pick if he hadn't run a 4.7 40 and went to a bigger school. I think he was the guy that was catching everything during preseason.
If Greg Jennings demands $10+ per year and won't settle for less, they have to let him go. I like him, probably my favorite Packer, but the salary cap is around $120 million and I just don't think he's worth 10% of the teams salary.
I think Aaron Rodgers can make average WR good and good WR great. Plus, Jennings is getting concussions, groin injuries, leg injuries ...
He's also missing out on $25,000 per game he doesn't play. And if he doesn't play in 12 games this season AND the Packers make the playoffs, he loses another $25,000.
Edit, Franchise tag in 2012 Wide receiver: $9.515 million ... I'd cast my vote to franchise him in 2013 if that number is around the same. |

Is this thread a cut-off from another thread or something? It's getting rather hard to keep track of things if you're not on here every day.
I'll just go ahead and talk about Jennings, regardless.
I'd let him go. Not a bout in my mind. He's going to test FA and he'll sign a ridiculous contract for some WR-starved team. The Dolphins looks like a pretty obvious landing spot.
Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but he's not Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald. He'll be 30 next year. We have quite a few WRs on the roster. He's been injured this and last season. He's just not worth a big contract (from our team).
In my opinion, franchising him and then seeing what we can get is too risky a game to play with him at this point. I'd just let him walk and see what guys like Sam Shields (if he continues like this), BJ Raji, Clay Matthews and maybe even Aaron Rodgers want. |

Trading Jennings is about the stupidest thing I can think of. Hey guys, lets make the team worse than it can be for the second half of the season/playoffs so we can get a draft pick... I thought the point was for your team to be at it's best at the end of the season (if you plan to try and make it to the superbowl anyways) but maybe I'm just confused

True story.
A lot of folks don't realize Gregorious served in 'Nam. One time while everyone else was asleep, the enemy threw a live grenade into the tent which Gregorious and his platoon were in.
Gregorious took one look at the hand grenade and said "shut up." The grenade stopped ticking. |

The situation with Greg'a comments and the Packers saying nothing seems like Cullen Jenkins deja vu all over again, as Yogi would say. |

McCarthy tells Sirius XM that WR Greg Jennings is considering surgery on his injured groin after seeing a specialist. No decision yet. |
