MikeVandermause: Actually, Greg Jennings said he will have surgery on Tuesday, not Wed. Will take place in Philadelphia.
#2 Posted : Thursday, October 25, 2012 12:01:12 PM(UTC)
The good news.. it sounds like a sports hernia. From experience.. not the worst surgery in the world.
#3 Posted : Thursday, October 25, 2012 12:06:57 PM(UTC)
References my comment and where I got that from.

It would not be a season-ending operation, which suggests that sports hernia surgery could be on the table. That fits with Jennings’ trip to a specialist in those kinds of injuries in Philadelphia earlier this week and would help explain why rest has not done much of anything to alter Jennings’ outlook in recent weeks.

Good. Could use Gregorious in the Playoffs.

(And maybe a good performance by Gregorious + a deep Playoff run would change his mind about staying here).

Cedric Benson, Greg Jennings, Charles Woodson and who else that'll be coming back just in time to lock up a playoff seed and make a run for the thumb?

...and they couldn't diagnose this sooner because...

Get 100% healthy Greg.

So, yesterday, as you guys all know, I went and sought out a second opinion, Dr. William Meyers out of Philadelphia. (He) kind of specializes in the abdominal groin area when it comes to what a patient needs or what’s going on with a patient. In my situation it’s an abdominal rectus abdominal tear. he way he described it to me was simply two people pulling on the end of a rope and it starts to fray and the more tugging, the more fraying, which means the more tearing occurs. That’s what I have going on. Two options: Either to inject or to get the surgery. I’m opting to get the surgery so I can be done with it. As far as the timeframe of how long the rehab and recovery will be, my body will tell me that. They give you ceratain time frames, one week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, whatever the case may be. But at the end of the day, it’s going to be determined whether I feel good or not is when I’m going to return back onto the football field. But not season-ending. Hopefully I can return before the season ends. We’ll see. But it’s not season-ending.

I’ll get it taken care of next Tuesday. 20, 25 minute procedure. Outpatient. I’ll be able to get up, walk out on my own and I’ll be back walking in the locker room and you guys will never know, on Wednesday.

This is Gregorious we are talking about. He could probably do the surgery himself.
#9 Posted : Thursday, October 25, 2012 3:52:02 PM(UTC)
The only thing that bugs me about this is that it wasn't found earlier. Hope he has a speedy recovery...

This really makes me weary of him getting re-signed, but I will still have some faith in Ted.

Actually, Gregorious fakes injuries so people will continue to mistake him for being mortal.

RIP Jennings

Who's this weeks Packers IR contestant?
#14 Posted : Friday, October 26, 2012 7:40:14 AM(UTC)

Jennings said that he expected to be back in the locker room on Wednesday after the 20-25 minute outpatient procedure, but wasn’t willing to attach himself to a timeline for getting back on the field when he announced his decision on Thursday.

Basically it's like hiking up his jeans...

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that doctors expect him to be sidelined about three weeks. If that holds, Jennings could make his return on Nov. 25 against the Giants after missing two games beyond this week’s matchup with the Jaguars.

Fo' REALIO, this could impact:

While Jennings regrets not getting the surgery earlier in the season, he said Thursday that he thinks he’s done enough to show teams what they’d get if they signed him to a contract.

“Free agency will take care of itself. Hopefully, I’ve put on film certain plays that I’m able to make and showcase my talents,” Jennings said. “Right now, I have to take care of myself and do what’s best for me.”

Whatever, GJ, long as we got JJ and JORDY NELSON, wait, what?

The Packers might also be without Jordy Nelson, who will test his aching hamstring on Saturday, against the Jaguars this week.

Whatever bitches, WE GOT THIS.

Hell the man ain't dead.

After he helps the Pack to another Super Bowl.

And even if he were, he'd carry the team on his back.
#17 Posted : Friday, October 26, 2012 8:12:26 AM(UTC)
The injury should make it easier to resign Jennings if the team wants to. Every missed game lowers his price. Only question is, how low does it need to go? Jordy and Jones are both getting around the 3 million next year. Where does Greg need to be, to be affordable? 5 million?
#18 Posted : Friday, October 26, 2012 8:23:20 AM(UTC)
Jordy Nelson will be held out of practice again on Friday, and won't test his hamstring until Saturday or Sunday. The hamstring pull "sounds a little worse than first thought," says the Green Bay Press-Gazette. If he's not going to test the hamstring before the weekend, Nelson's best-case scenario is a game-time decision.

Could the Jag game be a trap? What if both the Packers and bears both lose respectivly to the Jags and Panthers?
#20 Posted : Friday, October 26, 2012 8:52:40 AM(UTC)
I say we let Jordy sit this week. He's not 100% so let's not risk him hurting the hamstring even more. Plus we got the bye week coming up. Let him get rested and come back completely healthy for the rest of the season.

gbguy20 (11h) : doesn't the top 51 rule only count during the offseason? the way i understand it is everything counts once the season starts.
Smokey (12h) : Please start a thread in "Football Familiarity" and explain the Top 51 Rule, please.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Packers’ 2018 draft class will only take up about $2.9M in salary cap space thanks to the Top 51 rule
Porforis (19h) : Holy crap I'll be turning 9 in PackersHome years this year.
Zero2Cool (21h) : rock on!!
DarkaneRules (21h) : I'm celebrating 10 years at PackersHome this year.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Damn, Jared you one old ass dude.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Today's Birthdays: jdlax (115)
Zero2Cool (22h) : 1 year with Aaron Rodgers and having monster stats = GET PAID STRAIGHT CASH HOMIE
DarkaneRules (22h) : I doubt he'll take a deal like that. He wants to get paid like the other WRs have.
Zero2Cool (22h) : I would pay 2.99 million base, then incentives! INCENTIVES!!!
DarkaneRules (22h) : hah, funny how that happens in this sport. See what the market says. I wouldn't pay over 3mil.
Zero2Cool (22h) : What's the guys height Draft profile says six one, everything else says six three
Zero2Cool (22h) : You can do it!
Zero2Cool (22h) : PROVE IT
DarkaneRules (22h) : Not unless he'll take a 1-yr prove it deal on the cheap.
Zero2Cool (22h) : WR Allen Hurns will be released by the Jaguars. SIGN HIM
packerfanoutwest (20-Mar) : Burnett signing with the Steelers?
Zero2Cool (19-Mar) : Three years, $30 million could turn into one year, $13 million for Jimmy Graham
DarkaneRules (18-Mar) : to*
DarkaneRules (18-Mar) : Whatever happens, we've got to get Josh move near the LOS where he belongs.
TheKanataThrilla (18-Mar) : Would we consider trying Rollins a S?
gbguy20 (18-Mar) : so what's the deal then, are we to expect to see josh Jones in Morgan Burnetts spot this season? i guess I can't say I'm opposed to the idea.
Smokey (17-Mar) : BG is in no hurry to anounce a new Rodgers deal. Smart !
gbguy20 (17-Mar) : When is Rodgers signing that extension that was supposedly only awaiting Kirk? Typing on a phone makes things tough.
Nonstopdrivel (17-Mar) : That's what I was thinking: I wasn't aware that he was quitting.
Zero2Cool (17-Mar) : Hopefully not for a long time. We need him.
gbguy20 (17-Mar) : when is 12 resigning
Nonstopdrivel (17-Mar) : I have to say I like it, even if it means I have to put up with occasional ads for Maseratis. 😂
Nonstopdrivel (17-Mar) : Interestingly, since I blocked third-party cookies, ads I see tend to relate to the content of the page instead of my most recent Amazon searches.
TheKanataThrilla (17-Mar) : Mathieu to Texans? I thought he wanted to go to a play that was all about winning football games?
hardrocker950 (17-Mar) : Bears already matched
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Bears will certainly match it though. Maybe restructure after year one?
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : but bears got lots of money, didn't think anyone would make the offer
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : good question
