The best draft I remember for OL was 2000 when we got both Cliffy and Tauscher. None of our current Ts are on their level. So yes, they haven't been replaced. Will either Sherrod or Bulaga get to their level? Remains to be seen. agreed. I intentionally did not mention with the OTs on the prior teams Uncle did not NEED to draft any in first round during those early years. I was just trying to keep things simple. Didn't mean to try and slant things. I have no problem at all with his current OT first round selections. |

For prespective on the Pro Bowl thing...
Between 2005 and 2009... 218 offensive lineman were drafted. Only 18 of those lineman have been voted to a Pro Bowl. 7.8 % of the players selected have made the Pro Bowl. 10 of those 17 were drafted in Round 1.

Okay.. so then I got curious.. which team seems to draft well and what is the norm by team. Here you go. (2005 through 2009) Pack93z attached the following image(s): Offensive Line By Team.JPG (137kb) downloaded 19 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register. |

I stand by my conviction that Campen cannot develop consistent talent worth a pinch. I'm not a huge Campen fan either, but he sure had his guys ready when Bulaga went down. Didn't miss a beat. EDS may prove to be a very good addition to our OL. I LOVE that his first game starting this year will be against the Lions...

that is a part of the problem with using the PB as a yardstick of success. The players and fans keep voting the same ones in year after year. Even if someone has an off year people will vote for him out of habit and because we don't have good stats for OL along with the lack of knowledge on the part of many people as to who the OL are. If you stand outside any stadium on Sunday before the game and asked the fans who the OL for the other team I would say 80% of them can not name more than 2. So how can we expect them to know who the best linemen in the league are. |

This is without getting into the metrics of play type information. |

Under-rated?
Ahem. Er, no.
If anything, they are over-rated. Yes, they are better at pass blocking than at run blocking (though it wouldn't take a whole lot). But were it not for Rodgers' and his running/scrambling ability, they'd have double the sacks they've actually given up. So, IMO, even just looking at their pass blocking, they still are mired in the average/serviceable category.
(This opinion of mine, of course, surprises no one.)
IMO, Ted is really good at almost everything he does. But I think the Packers ability to scout/choose OL is probably his (and the scouting department's, generally) is his biggest weakness. |
None of the above. It wouldn't have been a wasted vote. Obama and Romney -- Those were the wasted votes. |

Earlier in his tenure, Mike McCarthy was ASKING for "smaller, quicker" linemen to fit this idiotic zBS bullshit.
Since they've been hybridizing that more, Ted has been allowed to go get "bigger, stronger" guys, and he's done far better. |

I hope they're under rated, that that means they can do better, whether it's with a new coach or not, whatever it takes. I would really like to see them get really good not only for production but for Aaron's health. Right now they need to get the Oline healthy and Ted Thompson has to continue to do his job by adding depth and drafting over what we have when possible. |

Saturday was on the nfl network before the Arizona game and he said they were giving up too many sacks BUT they realize this is going to happen a bit cause we are trying to hold the ball and make some plays down the field. I feel we only get the ball out quick when it's our only option and Rodgers hits the turf 4-5 times. |
