But as for the Elk meat - it is good, but I prefer the backstraps and tenderloins from the average 2 or 3 year old whitetail. The problem with downing the trophy buck is that you get trophy meat too. |

very true. A few years ago I was in WI hunting with my brother and his friends. I had to leave without getting a deer. Someone gave me their small doe and I gave him my permit. Some of the guys were laughing that I had killed a dog. Actually it wasn't me. It was some of the best meat I ever had. by looking at her size I would say she wasn't much more than 2. you can keep the 30 point buck with all the testosterone. I will take the tender young ones. alas it has been years since I have gone out. I need to find my gun and get lined up with some experts how will show me the ropes. |
