ILB Jovan Belcher has committed suicide in Arrowhead Stadium

I'm hoping this isn't true.

Ugh... it might be true after all.

54th Street and Chrysler Avenue 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating two deadly shootings Saturday morning that they said are related.

The shootings involve a Chiefs player and his girlfriend.

The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.

Officials said the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend and then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.

It's unknown if people were at Arrowhead or any of its surrounding facilities at the time.

CNN SI article

This CNNSI article mentions that he committed suicide in the parking lot in front of Crennel, Pioli, and other Cheifs' personnel, and that the murder occurred with the girlfriend's mother present.

What a terrible tragedy.

Holy cow!

Talk about a hard thing to deal with, especially for Crennel and those in the parking lot.

How in the heck do you deal with such a thing?

None of the above. It wouldn't have been a wasted vote. Obama and Romney -- Those were the wasted votes.

It can't have a positive effect on the team but I guess the show must go on.

The Chiefs six captains unanimously voted they wanted to play as scheduled. I don't see why not play. It seems cold to say that. I just don't see another option. I feel bad for the child and girlfriend.

I agree, we're not involved in the situation so it's not our place to judge how others cope with circumstances they're facing.

I feel awful for the child who at 3 months is now orphaned.

very sad, belcher grew up about 25 min away from where i live on long island, ny. his high school team plays my former high school team every year, i remember him as a high school star, but from what i have been reading locally he was a really good kid who came home in the off season and did alot for his community and lots for kids, so everyone is stunned around here, i guess you just dont know about people, my heart goes out to all the familys on a sad situation !!

From JSOnline..."Green Bay --- At first, there was no name attached. He heard about the murder-suicide but it wasn't until Saturday afternoon that Jerron McMillian learned the NFL player involved was his former college teammate, Jovan Belcher."

If the NFL decides to make the chiefs play they should donate 50% of concessions & merchandise from the game to 3 the year old daughter!!!!

Primetime talks about his suicide/depression issues.. worth a listen for a guy that seemed to have it all in his day.

Audio on the jump.

Quote:
NFL Network’s Deion Sanders joined the show to talk about the big stories around the League.

Sanders said that he understood what happened with Jovan Belcher. “I was suicidal once,” Sanders said. “I understand it.” Sanders said he had to fight through it and got past it.

Sanders said there are a “myriad” of players with similar problems at every level of football.

“Who do you turn to when you need an answer,” Sanders said. “Who is there to tell you no when the majority of people in your life have your hand out.”

“My teammates didn’t understand,” Sanders said. He explained that they turned to him for answers. He had not one to turn to.

“If a lot of these guys would be honest with you, they’d be there right now,” Sanders said.

Sanders said that he ran a car off the highway in Cincinnati. He said he was 3-4 the night before for the Reds. “I was in the midst of my first divorce. The only [people] I thought loved me were my kids. And they were stripped away from me.”
