Oh, wait......I get those free on my Medicare Prescription Drug plan. OK, then I'll get a bottle of Gentleman Jack and think of all of you as I relax and sip a few. Crap in a cup, I'm 64 and thought I was old! Two years ago I felt like I was 30 and acted like I was 20 to my wifes dismay. Now with the aches and pains and 2 AM piss runs I feel like around 65. Boy does that suck that age snuck up on me like that. |

Know what is really bad.. waking from a deep sleep having to take a piss and forgetting that you only have one leg. That has honestly happened more than one time.. almost sleep walking type mode. |

Twenty years ago -- No smart phones. No third and fourth Packer Super Bowl titles. No poker chip collecting. No PackersHome. No Google. No Wikipedia. No Cluetrain Manifesto. No blogging. No fall of the Wall, no fall of the Soviet Union (okay, those two were 23 years ago). Real GDP per capita about 65% higher in USA. Life expectancy at birth up about 2 years on average, for blacks up about 5 years.
And while I haven't checked, my guess is that if you checked average population height (excellent indicator of childhood nutrition), percent of world population with caloric intake of over 1500 or over 2000 calories/day, average world sanitation quality, even average world environmental quality, you'd find they're all higher now than 20 years ago.
Don't get distracted by business cycle effects and the reporting of CNN, my friend. The trend is still upward.
I wish I were still the age I was 20 years ago (assuming I could keep what I've learned in the meantime). And I'd sorta rather be in Uruguay or Ecaudor than in the American Midwest. But I'd rather be alive today than in any other time in human history. Bah. The two things that count - we had more sex than people do today and today's workers work more hours. NSD gave me the stats for today's sex and it's pretty pathetic. Plus, the babes were better looking back then too. The whole country got fat over the past 20 years. |
My man Donald Driver (thanks to Pack93z for the pic) 2010 will be seen as the beginning of the new Packers dynasty. |

I was working with these young guys today (25ish) and all they talk about were these stupid derby cars. I told them my only hobby in my twenties was getting laid. And they sulked away. |

Plus, the babes were better looking back then too. The whole country got fat over the past 20 years. Are you saying today's young are having sex less? Or just that you and I, being older, especially me, are having less. I dunno. When I was younger I had a thing for women older than me. Now I find myself looking to significantly younger women. (Of course, both times they were women between the age of 25 and 45. :) ) Working more hours. Yes, probably. But how much of that is simply because we're addicted to more and more expensive toys, travel, etc. Back when I was young, "vacations" meant going to a national park or spending a week fishing in Canada. Now they mean crossing oceans and national borders at the drop of a hat. We work harder, yes. But do we have to? Really? Or do we just want to be able to spend the proceeds of our higher productivity? |
