I think I remember that the Vikings had only 4 outdoor games this year. They are essentially a dome team, so scheduling was good for them. I wonder how they did in those games as they prepare to play the Pack in Lambeau. I know the outcome of one of them. Anyone know? |
damn skippy I'm an owner. I currently own a full .00001924537805515393 % of the Green Bay Packers. |

On our first two series of the game, we ran twice, passed 4 times, subsequently punted twice too. AD is just that. All Day. McCarthy should look at him as he would Brady, either Manning, Brees, you name it: keep that offensive potency off the field as long as possible by pounding the rock with the run. We had a ton of time to get back in this after coughing it up early. I guarantee this: We rush 30 times with our RBs we win this game. Easy.

I guarantee this: We rush 30 times with our RBs we win this game. Easy. not so. GB ran the ball twice and got 2 total yards. Running the ball 30 times with Grant might have yielded 30- 40 yards and a real asswhupping. In both series they were faced with definite passing situations (after unsuccessful runs) and MN loaded up and came after AR. He and the WR didn't have the time to run their routes and thus 2 punts. |

All the more reason to run v. pass. And by that I mean a run oriented, pound the football approach. Would have taken all the heat off of Rodgers, and opened up the passing game. Watch what happens Saturday night. Mike will be certain to run a whole lot more, at least I hope so. Harris had a 5.8 yd per carry average in the first half, on only 6 carries...

I feel confident that the Packers will win Saturday night. Vikings have not won a game outdoors this season and they have only played 4 games in 32 degree or less weather in the past 8 seasons.
Ponder was able to pull it together for that last game but he is no all-star and I don't think he can do it two games in a row, especially with the second game being a Lambeau.
Ponder's stats in his outdoor losses:
@Washington- 35/52, 352 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT (Peterson rushed for 79 yards, 0 TD)
@Seattle- 11/22, 63 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (Peterson rushed for 182, 2 TD)
@Chicago- 22/43, 159 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (Peterson rushed for 108, 0 TD)
@ Green Bay- 12/25, 119 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT (Peterson rushed for 210, 1 TD)
I wish there was a trend like being behind by so many points or something, but there isn't. The Vikings are just not a good team outdoors. Also worth mentioning, they had Percy Harvin for the first two games which should have given Ponder better options.

Whst you say is true. But that doesn't mean our guys don't have to show up. And THAT, is what worries me. |
It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get back up again. |

I am worried too. I am worried Aaron Rodgers will try to break all Favre's playoff records in this one game on one single play. |

I, for one, am not worried. The Packers D had an off day but did not take the day off and there is a difference. The effort was there they just didn't play very well.
I am not worried because the Vikes played about as good as they possibly are capable of playing and barely won. They had the crowd and the jump on us early and that essentially set the tone for the rest of the game and how it was played.
The tendency in recent years is teams facing a little more adversity then the top seeds are winning the SB. The Packers were not in a good position after the first several games and turned the season around. They've been here and done that.
Sometimes you just have to take yur hat off and in this case and this one time I will for the Vikes last week. They played hard and mistake free for 60 minutes.
Now they are rewarded with coming to our place and I expect we beat the hell out of them.

Well I for one hope McCarthy doesn't try to "establish the run" for the entire first quarter - when we can throw the ball at will on that secondary. We didn't have a first down until the second quarter which is unacceptable. There is no fine line between stubborn and stupidity when you factor arrogance first. |
